Family-type restaurant with a fairly cosy interior... the restaurant is small, but still cosy and smells of delicious food... the table was booked for two... previously warned about the delay of 5 minutes, yet the owner of the restaurant held our table, for which thanks a lot... the menu is not large, so you didn't have to choose for a long time... after a long waiting for wine and a glass of water, which I asked twice, finally starters and main dishes were ordered... I should note that the food is quite tasty, only one of the starters was salty too much for me, on my opinion, but perhaps these are just my impressions, although my boyfriend either did not really like it... before making an order, we wanted to try one dish served in a large portion, asked the lady if it was possible to reduce the number of pieces on the plate, to which we received the answer that in 42 years of work no one had ever returned the dish to the chef.... note that the menu indicates that some kind of changes in the menu are paid additionally, it's just for information... in my opinion, for that matter, I would like to pay for a reduced amount of the main course, just to try it, but this option was not offered... with wine we were served olives, by the way very tasty, but for some reason they were removed from the table without even asking if we had finished... after starters we were waiting an hour for the main course... bread served with starters was also taken away... took without asking if we were done... it's very strange... the main dish is decorated well, very tasty, while we were waiting you already want to quickly eat and leave... this restaurant tests you for patience... in my opinion, at least one person plus in service could improve the situation... fatigue and nervousness of the owner, serving people in the restaurant leaves unpleasent impressions... I'm on perpose do not indicate the names of the dishes, because each has its own taste, of all the ordered only one of the starters I've not liked... Honestly, I wanted to leave a good comment on the food, but still... I also want to note that the manner of providing answers of the restaurant owner to her customers here on the Internet, where everyone can see is unacceptable... I also want to note that even if it is realy delicious, no matter how beautiful and well served it was, service matters... I have great doubts that the chef sees and views the comments of his clients.... the owner makes a big mistake, hoping only for the luck of her husband-chef and his culinary skills... service is about nothing... the attitude to customers and the way the hostess takes criticism is just nightmare, it's hard to believe that this is possible... instead of listening to customers and improving their service, the owners chose the path of rudeness, rudeness and loss of any respect... with such success, the restaurant will not stand for another 42 years... Mention spéciale pour le café, servi avec mignardises, Carabreizh et un délicieux shooter de calvados arrangé par la patronne. Nous reviendrons avec plaisir pour découvrir un nouveau menu, qui change chaque jour. Bravo au chef et merci à Marie pour cet excellent moment ! À bientôt !

A great experience for the senses. I really recommend the pork chop (400 g) with a glass of Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil. The whole family is there to provide you with professional service and delicious food. Highly recommended!

C’est vraiment dommage, car nous avions trouvé une bonne table, une cuisine de qualité, une déco sympa, mais le caractère soupe au lait de la patronne a changé le bon vin en vinaigre. En effet, alors que nous n’avions cessé de complimenter la cuisine excellente et le service de la jeune serveuse souriante , mon épouse a eu le malheur d’avoir un dessert à l’ananas qui n’était pas bon. l’ananas frais mangé avec la glace et le sirop était correct, ce qui est certainement passé avec d’autres clients , mais mon épouse évitant le sucre n’a mangé que l’ananas, ou a tenté de le faire, en effet il était assez piquant et des petits points marrons apparaissaient, le signe d’un fruit passé. Nous avons eu le malheur au milieu de multiples compliments d’indiquer à la patronne que l’ananas piquait. Et là! Outrage à magistrat, nous avons osé dire que quelque chose n’était pas bien! Fureur: « non il est très bon, il pique parce que c’est la façon dont nous le préparons » nous a dit la patronne en prenant à témoin nos voisins, « il est bon mon ananas non? » haussant le ton. Elle a enchaîné nous faisant comprendre que nous disions n’importe quoi. Sauf que ma fille et moi avions aussi goûté et qu’en effet il était passé . Le petit problème c’est que vu l’attitude de Madame qui était loin d’accepter que cet ananas pouvait ne pas être bon et qu’au lieu de dire “ce n’est pas grave je vous sers autre chose”, elle a surenchéri avec d’autres clients pour prouver que nous avions tort. Cette attitude hautaine a juste poussé ma femme à dire ce qu’elle ne voulait pas dire par courtoise « non l’ananas n’est pas bon, il avait même parfois un goût de pourri ». Le mot était peut-être un peu fort mais il ne reflétait que la réalité. Un fruit peut en effet avoir un goût de passé, de fruit pourri, sans pour autant paraître mauvais esthétiquement , et nous avons bien dit que ce n’était pas sa faute et que tout le reste avait été très bon, mais non, Imperméable aux compliments, seul le mot « pourri » sorti du contexte a été ressassé auprès d’autres clients. Ce n’était plus l’ananas qui avait ce goût faisandé, la réalité, mais tout le dessert qui était pourri selon la patronne. Ma femme et ma fille ont alors quitté le restaurant très mal à l’aise en me disant « je te l’avais dit vu le personnage il ne fallait rien dire » . De mon côté j’ai essayé de dégonfler ce soufflé, en disant que la table était une bonne table et que pour l’ananas c’était un accident et que cela pourrait arriver, j’ai même laissé un pourboire et réglé une note qui n’était pas un cadeau. La patronne a alors continué dans son monde, fermée, très critique et sèche. Je suis parti de cet endroit avec un goût amer, celui de l’ananas piquant.

J’ai été restaurateur et j’ai toujours appris que le client est roi, alors quand un client me dit gentiment que tout est excellent mais que l’ananas pique, je m’excuse et je n’essaye pas de le faire passer pour un con en lui disant que les autres ont aimé . Cela ne prouve rien si ce n’est un manque d’ouverture, d’empathie. Notre journée a été gâchée parce que nous avons dit ce que nous pensions et que la critique ne peut-être que positive chez Balthazar sous peine de réveiller le tonnerre de Brest à ….Paimpol. Un vrai Gâchis .

Réponse du restaurateur: un restaurateur jaloux? C'est tout ce que vous avez trouvé? Ben non, pas jaloux, ni restaurateur, juste un client déçu par l'égo du restaurateur qui a de l'or dans les mains mais le transforme en plomb. D'ailleurs vous lisez sans comprendre car nous aurions pu être des clients satisfaits, nous avions même complimenté votre cuisine, sauf que un raté qui aurait pu être un détail a été géré de la pire des manières. La remise en question n'est pas votre fort, mais bon les faits...

Menu d’appel attractif. Dommage de servir le même poisson en entrée et en plat (maquereau). Plat correct, assez bien cuisiné mais plutôt quelconque - certains plats semblent plus alléchants d’autres jours dans l’offre du menu. Bref, pas conquise par la cuisine. A l’apéritif, plutôt que des gâteaux apéros, je recommanderais de proposer un petit tartinable maison, rillettes de poisson par exemple, cela me semble-t-il serait plus en adéquation avec le standing visé du restaurant.

Malheureusement d’accord avec bon nombre de commentaires sur le service. Je pense qu’il faut savoir s’arrêter lorsqu’on n’a plus l’envie de servir le client avec enthousiasme. Je note une ambiance assez froide, pas de musique, pas d’accueil chaleureux, on a presque l’impression de déranger. Impression que les patrons veulent fermer le plus tôt possible le soir. Lumières de la cuisine éteintes à 21h30 et restaurant déserté plusieurs minutes le temps que les patrons aillent fumer une cigarette dehors, je pense que cela ne se fait pas pendant un service. Dame au service sur son téléphone derrière le bar lorsque moment d’attente. On n’est clairement pas invité à s’attarder à table, je me suis presque sentie mal à l’aise.

Si je puis me permettre enfin, cela ne fait pas partie de l’expérience de la soirée mais je suis interloquée par la façon dont vous répondez aux commentaires, je pense que cela ne va pas vous faire bonne presse.

Bien que désireuse de supporter le commerce paimpolais, je ne retenterai pas l’expérience si vous n’accueillez pas des critiques constructives pour vous améliorer.

Une bonne cuisine ne rattrapera de toute façon jamais un mauvais service.
