Brasserie Le Saint-Trop — Restaurant in Istres

Went there with my friends yesterday. The restaurant itself looks good and is nicely decorated for my taste. However the food was not excellent, regarding the price. It was nicely displayed, as you can see in the pictures, but sadly did not reach our expectations. The risotto had no taste to it and was served cold. Also it was the only vegetarian option, so if you are a vegetarian I would not recommend going to Le Saint-Trop. The beef hamburgers were okay. The chick‘n burger was not that special and dry, the sauce was only in one spot. The tartar was good, we shared it as an entree which was a good portion. The dessert was good. The service could have been better. We were served by a woman and she kept making weird faces when we tried to order something, like she was making fun of us. We were 12 people and we all noticed it. What I really didnt like is that people were allowed to smoke on the terrasse. If it is an open terrasse of course it would be okay, but it was closed and connected to the „normal“ dining room. Which means the smoke had no place to escape, so most of the time it just smelled like cigarette smoke inside of the restaurant....

We arrived and were, we thought, fortunate to get a table. We were given our menus and waited approximately 10 minutes to order a drinks. Those drinks took an additional 10 minutes to arrive and at that point I told the person who took our drink order and delivered our drinks that we were ready to order... I was informed that he was not taking food orders.

Fast forward to the end of my beer (which took me approximately 15 minutes to drink) and we still have not ordered.

Had I known this would have been the case I would have gone to the Lidl and cooked my own food. Now we have to leave to feed our dog and track down SOMETHING, ANYTHING, to eat because was wasted over an hour sitting here waiting.

The service is an embarrassment. No idea about the food.

The cocktail my wife ordered wasn’t worth the 10€ we paid. My 6€ beer, while overpriced, was expected. 4€ for service we never received was akin to theft the service was so bad.

Le repas est toujours bon. Mais le patron n'est pas très agréable voir même optu. Nous avons été plusieurs fois dans ce restaurant mais depuis la dernière fois où je m' étais trompée de ligne en commandant des california et de la façon dont J' ai été traitée par le patron nous n'y sommes pas retournés. Je me suis trompée de ligne sur la carte au moment de la commande et n'aimant pas le surimi, je pense au début à une erreur dans le service. Le patron vient une première fois me dit que c est bien ce que J'ai commandé, je m'excuse donc de mon erreur et dit que je n'aime pas le surimi. Il revient quelques instants plus tard me disant que c est ce que J' ai commandé de toutes façons c est sur. J' étais prête à reprendre autre chose sans geste commercial puisque je m' étais trompée, c est normal. Le patron repars. puis il reviens une troisième fois, il était allé chercher le bon de commande de notre table pour me montrer que c'est bien moi qui me suis trompée, ce que J' avais déjà admi sans problèmes les deux fois précédentes... Je voulais juste avoir quelque chose que J'aime dans mon assiette à la place... Je vois qu'il est donc préférable pour le patron d'être bien certain que tout le monde a vu qu'il avait raison, plutôt que de satisfaire une cliente. Le couple d'a côté était choqué de la façon dont il me parlait alors meme que nous ne nous étions pas du tout énervés. Le patron ne m'a jamais ramené une carte pour que je commande autre chose... J' ai donc fini mon assiette et mis une croix définitive sur ce restaurant... Nous nous sommes assurés auprès du serveur que le pour-boire n'irait que dans la poche de l'équipe car le reste des personnes au service étaient très agréables, et nous sommes partis. Nous y allions au moins trois a quatre fois par ans. Et nous attendons impatiamment un changement de propriétaire pour...
