Bistrot "Chez Lulu" — Restaurant in La Rochelle

The food is just amazing. The only thing that for me could make this a 5 star is if the menu had just a little more options. (comment of the first time I went there)

The comment that follows is after I went back a second time. So I really liked the restaurant so I recommended it to everyone around me and I decided to take my friends with me to try it but I will change my note because I was really disappointed on how things are managed, I asked if it was possible to make a change on my plate and the waitress told she would have to ask and she didn't said anything so when my plate come back with the change I asked for me it was that. But after I paid the total was not adding up so I went to ask for the detail, and they had charged me 2€ it's not the amount of money but the plate already is one of the most expensives on the menu and I don't mind paying the price because it is really good but not asking me before since there's an extra cost I thing it's a very dishonest practice. They will change the menu and I was counting on going back once it's done but now I am not so sure. Plus, it was really cold tonight and we had asked to close the door which they did, but once we finished eating they opened it back, it felt like an attempt to make us leave, not that welcoming or...

What a fantastic find! Chez Lulu is a gem – the food was absolutely packed with flavor and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. A special shoutout to the front-of-house ( owner? ) he were incredibly kind and helpful, going above and beyond to bridge the gap between my Google Translate and schoolboy French. Well… what can we say.. just an absolute joy… the starter of beetroot and goats cheese mousse was a feast for the eyes and tummy, never had anything like it … the tarte tatin and rice pudding were the best we’ve ever had.. we very much hope that we will return to this beautiful island and to this superb restaurant very soon… also fantastic friendly staff … can’t recommend this...
