Le Floana — Restaurant in La Rochelle

A bad experience. It seemed so nice when we could just get in without a reservation. The starter was also fine. The main course went wrong. It was offered as a specialty, but turned out to be far from tasty. The fish was very dry and the vegetables cooked to a pulp. It can happen, but when we sent it back we heard that others liked it all. How is this possible? They didn't taste anything from our plate. We were asked if we wanted something else? We thought that was a good solution. In the end, the returned dishes and a new one were both on the bill. Very strange. Our problem was not taken seriously and even denied. The butter for the new dish also turned out to be 3 weeks past its sell-by date. This too was not responded to when we reported this. A damper to end our holiday. Unfortunately, we do not recommend...

We had a lovely evening in this restaurant just behind the sea in La couarde! We had the starters, 2* clams with pasta and the brochette de bœuf. The meat with fries was well received by the kids and presented in a nice way. The pasta with clams was also nice, only the pasta that came with it was cold, in the mix with the salsa and clams it was ok but this could have been better. The taste as such was really nice. We also tried multiple desserts which were all well received. Service is very friendly and pretty fast. No need to hesitate to come by and also very (little) kids friendly we...

Lovely place with a great atmosphere. But… starter of seafood rilette was really pretty poor. Granted we are beyond 60 so taste buds are not what they were, but really? Tiny knife to extract a rather watery, tasteless fish pâté onto a very thin piece of bread. Second was fish of the day. A slab of again pretty tasteless fish with rather nice veg. Sauce was yellow and had some flavour but nothing that made us go: ooooo! Two glasses of rosé at €6 each and a (nice) bottle of white at €28 and a bill of €100. I expect more for this money and cannot understand the 4.7 rating: really not...
