Lovely crepes, not impressed with much else. They do not open until 12pm, which I understand is the ‘european way’, but seeing as we had been up since 7am and wanted lunch this was pretty frustrating. Lots of people were viewing the menu and wanting to visit earlier than this. To make matters worse, while we were waiting outside (ready to give them our business), we were actually told to move along. Not exactly the warmest welcome.
Then it got even worse. Once we finally sat down, we were told we couldn’t order sweet crêpes because they wanted to save space for “bigger orders.” In other words: a blatant money making scheme. The irony? We would have spent more if they’d simply let us order what we wanted, sweet crêpes, extra dishes, drinks, the lot. Instead, they forced us into a corner and ended up losing our business completely.
They think this system is clever, but it just comes across as greedy, short sighted, and downright unfriendly. The food might be good, but the experience left such a bad taste that I have zero desire to...
Read moreCreperie with a modern feel. We're made to feel welcome, were offered an English translation of the menu but we prefer it in French (it makes the food taste better!) We think the menu has changed since we were last in Lille as I found it harder to find something without meat or nuts (I have an intolerance to all tree nuts) However they made me a tagine galette but left off the almonds and it was delicious. If there was a vegetable option it would have been perfect! My husband had an Odette and said it was excellent. Also we chose the extra dry cider and it was fabulous. We brought our little toy bear who goes on all our adventures and he even got his own little pot of honey. Thanks to the waiting staff for...
Read moreThis place is special! The atmosphere says it's France the way it's meant to be experienced in the summer. There are a lot of outdoor places like this place nearby, but it's a bit isolated from other restaurants, so it feels a bit more exclusive. Food is great and even more special if you are one with celiac disease (gluten-free) as they do buckwheat versions and they are worth every bite. Savory over sweet crepes with this place. Services is as good as it gets considering language barrier for those with little to no French language in their arsenal. Highly recommend good prices as well. Fifthy Euros is more than enough...
