This is not a 4 star hotel by any means. The service is horrendous and the rooms are extremely dated. There doesn’t seem to be a service elevator so you’re there for ages waiting for the single elevator as staff move inventory around. Plz don’t take room 312 if you have to stay in this hotel. Ugly yellow stain by the bathroom. None of the sockets work for a travel adapter. I asked the concierge (the one on duty on the morning of 31st Aug) about this and he said unfortunately he can’t do anything. The man didn’t even ask to send someone in the room to check the sockets. Extremely unwelcoming, unfriendly and unhelpful manner. Same for the lady who checked me in, I asked about robes and slippers and she said you get them depending on the type of room you booked. It’s the first time I’ve ever heard that from a 4* star hotel. When I questioned more, she realised she will get into trouble and had them sent to the room. The night staff is much more decent and polite. I asked re late check out, the night staff confirmed that I can extend my check out to 7pm the next day at a charge of 50 euros. When I discussed it with the same unhelpful gentleman the next day, he said late check out is only till 5pm. Very confusing as the information given to guests isn’t joined up between the different staff members. Finally sorted. Upon check out, the same gentleman asked how my stay was, I started to speak but it was clear he wasn’t interested in anything so I just left it at “it wasn’t great to be honest”. He didn’t care to know more and I didn’t want to waste my breath on someone who clearly doesn’t have an idea about how one should work in the hospitality sector. Came here for a special trip and I feel like it was a huge mistake to stay here.

I don't really know where to start with this hotel. The location is excellent. Right on the Grand Place and a 10 minute stroll from the international station where you'll find the Eurostar. The staff were friendly and happy to help. There was some really lovely decor and fabulous chandeliers and wallpaper. The breakfast was ok, nothing special but not bad either, a standard continental (although lacking in vegetarian alternatives). But. There is literally no disabled access into the hotel. There are large steps up into the building and no other entrance. The hotel advertises an 'accessible room' which we had, and luckily I am an ambulatory wheelchair user so my partner was able to carry my chair up the stairs, but there was no communication to let us know that the hotel would not be suitable for someone who was not ambulant. The elevator is very small and I just managed to squeeze in, in a standard sized chair with power attachment. The 'accessible room' was large, with a big comfortable bed. There was a very large wet room style bathroom but with no shower chair and no grab rails for the shower either. No bath. A very confusing set up!! Good value for money for able bodied people.

Fantastic location just off the main square. We had a mezzanine room which let the kids have their own space upstairs with two single beds and the room was huge! Beds were very comfortable. Bathroom well appointed with "white company" toiletries. Given the location I was surprised how quiet it was. Every staff member we spoke to was attentive and helpful. Everyone spoke English which was helpful as my french is a bit rusty! We didn't have eat in the hotel so can't comment. Sadly the roof terrace was closed during the day which is a shame! Late checkout (1200h) was standard which was fantastic with kids. Really enjoyed our all too brief stay!

Although there are areas for improvement regarding general cleanliness and maintainance in the bedrooms.....stained carpets, hairs in shower & on toilet system plus loose handles on the shower door (I fixed them myself) & lots of noise during the day due to nearby building works (not the Hotel's fault) this did not affect us having a wonderful stay.||All the staff were very friendly, dressed smartly & were always polite....the young man on reception who checked us in & out was very helpful indeed.||Great location.|Plentiful breakfast options.|Good size rooms, loving the high ceilings & large windows, walk in rain showers & large beautiful sinks plus the large TV, we were unable to find any English channels that worked though but we made do with the music channel that played many English songs.||The stand out element for us was the rooftop bar, what a lovely place to spend our evenings in, we even had live DJ's on our last night....plus a special mention to Maeve(?).....as it was my birthday during our stay, she made sure me & my wife had a great evening, it was because of her general all round superb service that we visited the rooftop bar every night of our stay.|I was going to knock a star off for the minor issues that I first mentioned but for overall service & location I believe this Hotel deserves top marks, I have no problems recommending this place & when we return to Lille we will definitely stay here again. Many thanks from Graham...
