Bistrot La Varenne — Restaurant in Lyon

I spent a very happy evening in this bistro. It is located in front of the Place Gailleton, which is just across the University Bridge: it takes only 15 minutes to walk both from the Perrache Station and from the Place Bellecour. This bistro has a high-class atmosphere and actually it has clean, sophisticated interior decoration, but it is very relaxing and makes guests comfortable. I enjoyed “Demi poulpe grillé en persillade”—delicious grilled octopus with green salad, a generous serving of French fries, and delicately flavored home-made garlic cream—absolument yummy! I also had reasonably priced good white and red wine. It cost only 32 euro this evening. The staff are polite, amiable, welcoming; its food and drinks are wonderful. We had a great time at Bistrot La Varenne last night! Just the Lyon vibe we were looking for. We came with my dog, quite a size (40kg) and they helped us move to a corner table where the dog can have more space, the owner provided water too :) We ordered pull pork, octopus and other cold plates to share, all delicious. Excellent experience, our first time in Lyon and this was a highlight. The staff were friendly and outgoing, they sat us on the patio while waiting for our table.
