A classic small-local restaurant. Interestingly located right next door to a strip club, but forget I mentioned that! Hahaha. The cozy, eclectic kind of spot where, if I lived here, I’d come every week. The friendliest and most welcoming hostess and chef. Zero pretentious attitude. A simple, but classic and delicious menu. Open late for dinner.
I got into Lyon “late” from Barcelona. My initial targeted restaurant - an “official” bouchon - declined seating me, even though their listed hours were until 10pm, and I got there at 9! SMH… Especially after Spain, what a pain to adjust to such early dinner hours!! So I desperately wandered the streets of Lyon looking for a dinner option. 3 folds down in the Google search results, I found Luna, and so glad I did! Luna deserves a higher placement in the search results! It reminds me so much of a long-closed favorite of mine in Vieux Montreal - Le Bourlingueur. A small menu. Nothing fancy. But reasonably priced and delicious.
The chef's pate was meaty but balanced with the acidity of the cornichons. I had a classic andouillette for my main, and it was actually my first andouillette, as you rarely see this in other parts of France, let alone in the US or Canada. Made with chitterlings and other "nasty bits" of swine - it was delicious. Loved the texture and taste. Clean and uniquely Lyon. Perfectly balanced by the acidity of the vinagrette in the simple salad. A perfect meal for a chilly night.
Also, the cutest collection of salt & pepper shakers. Wonderful little spot. Highly...
Read moreThe service and the food are excellent!!! Everything is freshly prepared and this needs some time, but we were glad to wait. It was more than worth it!!! I was with my husband and my two kids (4 and 7) and we sat outside. The place is hidden in a side street, away from the craze of the touristic crowds. It is tiny, has just three tables inside and three more out. I found it very charming :) The chef went out to buy fresh baguette and vegetables from the nearby market, everything was crunchy fresh! 😁 I was impressed. It is two-man show, but we really loved the passion for the food and the personal attitude. The best food experience we had in Lyon!
The only minor drawback - just on the opposite side of the street is one strip club. It was closed when we visited, so it didn't bother us, but this might scare some visitors (or...
Read moreA quirky place with a lot of heart. As soon as you enter you're greeted by the lovely couple who run this place together and their smiles are infectious and will surely get your appetite going.
Unfortunately though we were quite disappointed by the fare, La Luna promises wholesome, fresh and tasty food and on the night we felt a bit let down by our plates. I hope the friendly owners can bring the warmth and charm that they certainly exude, to the food as well.
The Gambas were really tasty, but for a main and the price I'd have liked to see it paired with a more substantial salad.
The wine selection is promising and so is the fresh cheese. We really hope to come back and give the food another try. Honestly one of the friendliest places to visit in Lyon, just hopeful the food is as good as the...
