A new generation of chefs and a new spin for Lyonnais cuisine

N45°45.536' E4°49.622' When young Lyonnais Grégory Cuilleron and his two friends opened this neobistro in early 2016, it was an instant hit. They are working wonders at this cool loft-like space with a mezzanine, serving up tantalising creations based on what they find at the market. The mezzanine was no option, because it was filled with cigarette smoke, but the warm evening in April 2018 offered the perfect circumstances for outside dining in Vieux Lyon.

The rare fish had an exceptional quality: firm and tender. Well prepared, not greasy, with delicate taste. Very enjoyable experience, confirming the high-quality kitchen of 5inq Mains.

In the afternoon, we walk past the restaurant to reserve a table. Kindly, our name was put on the waiting list. Soon we received a confirmation call. The waiter spoke excellent English, due to working of several years in Miami, Florida, and helped us with the menu and the complementary wine: a subtle red Viognier, well suited for the fish. The food from this gourmet kitchen was reasonably priced.

We enjoyed our dinner at 5inq Mains very much, partly because of the nice outside seating away from cigarette smoke inside. The chef knows how to cook: excellent....

We were at the restaurant for a weekday lunch and had booked ahead. I highly recommend to make a reservation as the place was quite crowded. This is understandable as the food was good and reasonably priced. Waiting staff was friendly and very engaged. I liked the atmosphere as the staff was joking and appeared to be having a good time. This lifts your spirits! Would go back there any time!

How I rate: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Awesome! You need to try it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Very good. Not outstanding. I’d come back any time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Good. Nothing special. ⭐️⭐️ = Slightly disappointing. But still okay. ⭐️ = Don’t go....

Excellent meal. Innovative cooking, and an excellent and unusual balance of flavours. The whole meal was well judged.

The ceviche was incredible (although I think the very dry brioche was a mistake, and detracted from the sprightly flavours with the fish and kiwi). The rosé pork was delicious and tender, and the sharp notes of the rhubarb helped cut through the creaminess of the meat. It was the first time we've had pork fillet cooked rosé, but it won't be the last.

Superb staff, all of whom were able to guide us through the menu.

The bill for two, including a fresh tasting provençal rosé and a coffee came to...

Il y a quelques temps, j’ai testé @cinqmains, le restaurant du chef Grégory Cuilleron, dans le 5e arrondissement de Lyon. Accompagné de son frère et d’un ami, il propose une petite carte de saison qui repense la cuisine française. 👀 En entrée, j’ai goûté : - 💛Œufs fumés, mayonnaise à la poudre de foin, crème de céleri au paprika et gravlax de jaune d’œuf. - Ceviche de Lieu Jaune, leche de tigre et grenade. Puis, concernant les plats : - Filet de Julienne, betterave grillée, ketchup de betterave, émulsion hibiscus, crumble chorizo et jus façon bouillabaisse. J’ai adoré la saveur betterave qui ajoutait un vrai plus 👀 - 💛Jarret de Bœuf d’Aubrac confit 24h, crème de chou-fleur au ras el-hanout, navet confits au miel, chips de navet, harissa et jus de viande. Énormément de plaisir en bouche, viande incroyable, c’est mon plat préféré. Et pour finir sur une douceur sucrée, les desserts : - 💛Le Pain (un dessert secret autour de la réutilisation du pain). Ce dessert anti-gâchis est très recommandé par les serveurs et j’approuve c’est vraiment très sympa et très gourmand. - Crème diplomate au citron, limequats confits, gavotte, tuile de sucre aux agrumes et glace persil. Pour un dessert plus frais et plus léger. Ce délicieux repas pris dans un lieu plutôt intimiste, typique du vieux Lyon avec ses murs de pierre, très chaleureux, cosy et calme. Et pour les beaux jours, il y a une belle terrasse, dont nous n’avons pas pu profiter il y a quelques semaines malheureusement ☀️ Merci pour cette belle découverte culinaire, des plats semi-gastro réussi, un service de qualité au petit soin. 🫶 Pour les prix : 41€ menu du soir (entrée, plat, dessert) 28€ midi (entrée, plat, dessert) @petitguidelyonnais 🦁
