Beautiful property - See important information about HVAC in review Pro's and Con's - starting with the Con's - Biggest Con - We could not get the room temperature below 71 degrees for our two night stay there. Fine for daytime but we like 68 or 69 for sleeping. We carry a travel thermometer/hygrometer so we know the actual temperature and humidity in our rooms as opposed to the in room thermostat which is almost never correct. They came to check on it and told us we could put our device in another room and they would turn that down and see if it lowered and it did not so we stayed in our original room. The staff was very attentive to this matter however this would be a real problem for us if we were staying more than two nights. At breakfast the kind waiter was asking us how our stay was and we said great except for the room temperature not going lower and he politely asked (he already knew) if we were Americans and said that many Americans complain about the HVAC because they like it colder than it is really capable of going and that many other nationalities differ in their desire for the air conditioning to get to lower temps. He was very concerned and informative - no air of haughtiness. the bidet did not work because the batteries in the remote were dead. Small item - but would think this would be checked by housekeeping when the room turns. Not indicative of 5 Star property. Pros - gorgeous property with a sublime location - what a view ! friendly respectful staff incredible breakfast fantastic room and appointments with a bathroom you have to see to believe - truly magnificent. great pool and other site amenities. they did offer and bring us two fans
Unfortunately, we would not return because the room was just too hot at night for us to...

Read moreJust spent 5 glorious days at the Villa Maïa in Lyon, and we could not have had a better time! The property is beautiful- situated on a hill overlooking the city with sweeping panoramic views of the Rhône and Old Lyon. ||What makes this hotel truly exceptional is not just the gorgeous architecture, modern furnishings, or superb spa and pool facilities… it is the staff! ||A big shout out to Raphael- who we interacted with a breakfast and throughout the hotel. Raphael is awesome!! We looked forward to seeing him everyday, he was great to talk to, super helpful, and just a lovely person. It is very evident that Raphael loves and takes pride in his work and is fantastic at what he does.||Also would like to shout out Tatiana, Jorge, Leo, Charles, and Anais. It was so nice to see their smiling faces every day and they all ensured that we had a flawless stay. ||Thank you Villa Maïa, can’t wait to come back!||(Just a technical note- because the hotel is situated on a hill, it can be a little difficult to access. If you want a little exercise, it is a 15-20 minute walk up and down. Can be a bit arduous but doable, and very necessary after enjoying some of the delicious Lyonnais cuisine for dinner. But for those less able, there is a funicular that goes back and forth up the hill for €3 and drops you off 3 minutes from the hotel. And taxis and Ubers...
