I’m only in Lyon for a short time before heading to Paris - the end of my trip. Seeking a special meal as part of my Lyonnaise experience, i decided on L’Alexandrin - the menu appealed and it was within walking distance for me. What a joyful and delicious experience this was. I was able to have a fixed price menu for the lunch meal with the addition of an extra package which provided lovely little mouthfuls of delight in between the courses. For entree i had the scallops - the most beautiful, tender scallops with flavours so complimentary! I was recommended the chicken dish for my main course - again didn’t disappoint. I have not anything like this combination of flavours before. And the Exotic dessert - banana based but surprising and fresh and delicious. All choices for each course i would’ve happily selected - it was challenging to stick with one! The staff were kind and attentive and despite not being a French speaker, was not made to feel unsupported. The wine/drink selection was pleasant - as i was dining solo, i was limited to what they had by glass. I could not be happier with my experience today and it will leave lasting memories of my time in Lyon. Thank you to all who made my experience such a beautiful one.

One of the worst fine dining experiences I've had. The food was pretentious and uninspiring. The dinnerware and plating were terrible. I could barely eat after the 3rd course. The owner/chef poured us a drink and proceeded to speak in French. I told him we did not order it and he kept pretending he didn't understand and walked off. I had already ordered an aperitif and he decides to shove us another glass. Of course, we were charged for it. This ruined my mood and I did not bother to order more drinks for the night. Regretted big time coming here. Never again! Wasted $300+ euros. 😠

I ate here yesterday, I'm very pleased with this place, honestly this restaurant is top! Me and my date took the chief's choice (chief is adorable) wine was chief's choice as well, everything was fabulous! If you want to pamper yourself, this is where you do it. You will find the sunshine in the staff and the excellent food you're looking for here. To the chief, thank you for such a great evening, I will definitely come back!

The worst food experience I have ever had and led to my girlfriend being hospitalized from the food poisoning. DO NOT EAT HERE. This place is a tourist trap scam trying to fool tourists into thinking they are eating fancy food. The chef is for some reason in the dining room the whole time instead of in the kitchen where he should be helping the clearly inadequate kitchen staff prepare meals that do not send people to the hospital. Even then, the food is impossible to understand (I have been to tens of fine dining experiences, many with multiple Michelin stars and I can assure you that the “creativity” in these dishes is just some guy’s ego throwing weird ingredients together and plating it well) and for the most part didn't taste good. There were parts of individual dishes, like a Foie Gras in the second course that were alright but they were put on the plate with sweets and sorbet so early into the tasting menu and they did not taste good together. No dish made sense and clearly something in the food was not cooked or prepared correctly.

I also have an allergy that they attempted to make modifications for but at one point the head waiter put the dish WITH THE ALLERGEN right in front of me and the one without the allergen in front of my girlfriend. Good thing I noticed that it was the wrong one because if I didn't I could've expelled the previous courses from my stomach right there at the table.

Even after that, there were inconsistencies with which items were removed/modified from my plate and included on my girlfriends that made me constantly second guess what I was putting in my mouth, and the bad tastes did not help with that.

To top it off, there was a customer who was struggling in the bathroom and the head waiter was heard yelling in the bathroom at the customer from the dining room. It was stressful and unprofessional.

After all of this, and we even got the check before we had finished our tasting menu (it was very clear that we were having a terrible time), they still charged us full price which felt outrageous. At any other fine dining establishment the meal would have been complimentary at that point.

Do not come here, if you want a real fine dining experience in Lyon follow the Michelin guide instead or go to the recommended food streets on...

From the beginning to the end, the service was terrific. Rarely do you get to have such interaction with the lead chef, but he greeted us, took our order, and supervised the serving of the courses. Some of this superb attention was because we came during a slow season (March), but it was really amazing and made the experience feel all the more special.

Food-wise, we ordered a la carte and were very pleased. Every dish was really good. The escargot (my first time) was really nice. My only minor nitpick is that the steak was a bit unmemorable; the cooking was fine, but the meat and seasoning were just a little bit bland. Beyond that, every other item was really good. And my wife's chocolate desert was amazing. We also let the chef pick our wines, and his pairings were top-notch.

Would gladly eat there again and enjoy the...
