Le Rendez-Vous de l'Abbaye — Restaurant in Mâcon

After hours of driving from Geneva, we decided to stop off here for a late breakfast. It is a nice town with the cafe at the prime location, however the lady that served us was bad mannered.

Firstly we were told we needed to order quickly because the kitchen is closing, so we ordered a lasagne and a club sandwich. The lasagne came but the club sandwich was nowhere to be seen. After 15 minutes of waiting, I asked where the club sandwich was to which the waitress replied the kitchen is closed. No apology for forgetting to put the order through or offering any alternatives.

10 minutes later I see the same lady serving other people food after saying ‘the kitchen is closed’.

If you’re a tourist , I advise you to avoid this cafe at all costs. As soon as the waitress understood that I was English her whole mannerism changed.

Comme nous sommes bien élevés, nous étions à l’heure au rendez-vous, juste à côté de l’abbaye. Mais le rendez-vous ne voulait pas de nous — ou plus exactement, de nos vélos de cyclotourisme. Sous un orage puissant, nous sommes donc restés dehors, car on ne voulait pas de nous. Heureusement, il y avait juste à côté une abbaye, qui, selon nous, ne vous mérite pas comme voisin.

Laisser des clients sous un orage simplement à cause de leurs vélos semble peu accueillant. Cela donne l’impression que l’accueil est réservé à une certaine clientèle, et non à tous. Nous avons eu le sentiment que, chez vous, le client ne compte pas vraiment, sauf s’il correspond à vos critères.

Mais merci, car au lieu de dépenser notre argent dans votre commerce, nous avons pu visiter l’abbaye comme jamais nous n’aurions pu le faire. Gardez votre terrasse, et nous, notre...
