Bonne Miette — Restaurant in Marseille

my partner and i, had spent all day travelling when we came across this new bakery by our hotel. the staff were very friendly and helpful, as we don’t speak any french. they also have a single bathroom that was very clean and new.

we both ordered a slice of plain olive pizza, (which despite being out for a while was very soft and fresh) that was very tasty! my boyfriend ordered a latte that he said was great and well-priced, whereas i had a bottle of water and a pain au chocolate. we both spent under €10 of course - i think mine was €6 something. there was also an array of pastries, baguette sandwiches, cakes, and takeaway fruit pots / salads to choose from.

one particular staff member (who’s name i didn’t get, unfortunately) helped us by answering some questions about the local area, the reliability of the busses and which beach to go to.

The pastries/desserts were a bit of a hit or miss. The apple pastry was very tasty - the dough was crunchy and the filling was very tender and the sweetness balance was good. The pain au chocolat was good, too. The flan bourbon cake was average to my taste - the filling was jelly like and the basement was tasteless. The cappuccino was good in general but it was served in non-professional cups and the cups were hot. The tables outside were a bit dirty, too. Great little place in Marseille. The viennoiserie was decent but nothing too much to call out. The coffees were average and the flan was velvety soft. Atmosphere was really good.
