All I can say is… wow. This meal and restaraunt practically rendered me speechless.
My husband and I visited this restaurant yesterday evening and we had one of the best culinary experiences of our lives. First, the ambience is so charming— decor is cohesive, eclectic, creative (even the bathroom is lovely, with celestial touches!) The music they play lifts and cheers the spirits (I loved that my favorite Sam Cooke song made its way into the playlist). You can watch the chefs delicately prepare food towards the back with great precision. The staff greets you like it is their own home. You are already walking into a space of warmth and care from the moment you step inside.
And then, the food… oh my goodness. We ordered the seven course meal with a wine pairing (highly recommend). Every single dish from the arancini to the sea bream to the beef tartar, all the way to the dessert (I don’t want to give it all away for you!) gets a standing ovation. The presentation is like a piece of artwork on each plate, with color, texture, elegance, playfulness. The flavors are sophisticated and creative— note after note unfolds with grace. Every dish simply got better and better. It’s almost as if they are trying to top themselves! Hard to do when every dish is a complete stand-out (even pre-dessert!)
And the best part about the meal is that you don’t know what you’re getting until the plate arrives to you. We respect the element of surprise with food, as it creates an excitement that is hard to replicate. It was almost as if I was watching a musical that I’ve never seen before, or hearing a song for the first time. They create an experience here. And they clearly love what they do— the passion exudes from their friendliness and diligence.
If only we had this restaurant in New York City, we would go every week. But alas, that is the magic of France. My husband and I will return to Marseilles just to visit this restaurant again.
Bravo and brava— thank you for the best meal I’ve ever had in my life. Merci beaucoup— sending love...
Read moreIncredible food, super friendly staff (who speak excellent English) and beautiful atmosphere. Whilst staying in Marseille we went to Copain’s twice, for the dinner tasting menu and the lunch menu. All dishes were spectacular! All my friends were meat eaters and loved their dishes. Im vegan and the Chefs were so accommodating and created special dishes that matched the meat menu. I did give them about 12hrs notice so they had time to prepare it for me which I would highly recommend doing if you have any dietary requirements.
Highly recommend if you are...
