LA BELLA PIZZA — Restaurant in Marseille

It's not a good pizza. The tomato sauce was made from chuncks of tomato. Why? If it doesn't add anything, dont touch the original recipe. Even though this was watery tomato, the pizza was still dry. The dough was also bad. And the ingredients too. It was tasteless. Meat was of bad quality. Also, green pepper on a diavola? Why? If you have good quality salame piccante you don't need to add green pepper. The prices were crazy. Even if you would have good quality products, it's too high. I make pizza so was keen to get a taste of quality Marseille pizza. I read up on a lot of restaurants before choosing this one. I loved the menu options and it was close to where we were staying.

It was fantastic quality of food from entree to desert. For the pizza, I loved the pared back anchovy, herbs, garlic and tomato one. Outstanding flavours.

Note: the pizza base is softer than Neapolitan style, but lovely.

And we had a mixup with ordering. We wanted to share but ended up with a pizza each....

Usually the dough is not really interesting and often flat at the edges. And even if that's not the case, the ingredients are cheap and don't have much taste.
