One of the best Vietnamese meals I’ve ever had (and I’ve tried a lot!) I went to Nguyen-Hoang during a visit to Marseilles with my fiancé and was delighted by the freshness and flavor of the food. When we arrived we were surprised by the long line and packed tables - clearly we weren’t the first to discover such a gem (but the line moved quickly)! We had crispy fried spring rolls, bo luc lac (shaking beef), and beef pho (noodle soup) paired with two ice cold Singha beers. We finished off the meal with a delicious Vietnamese sesame cake and a Vietnamese iced coffee.
At the end of our meal, the wonderful owner told us with pride that she had been in business with her husband running the restaurant for 21 years!!! She showed us her profile from a local Marseilles magazine and also told us that the restaurant was featured in a NYT travel article.
I love supporting amazing immigrant-run small businesses and was so happy to see the success of Nguyen-Hoang in the beautiful city of Marseilles.
Highly recommend!...
Read moreThis restaurant is where everyone needs to eat! Super friendly staff and the food is outstanding because authentic. You will never get more value for your money than here. The restaurant itself is separated into two rooms with two different entrances. It really looks run down and the construction site in fron of the door doesn't help. There's not much decoration. They just rented the place, put some tables and chairs in it, done. That's how you do it in Vietnam!
The old lady who served us was super nice and quirky. The food came super quick and was really tasty. The portions are good and so are the prizes. A bowl of pho costs 9 euros and bun bo 8,50 Euros. With two beers we paid 20 euros in total. Place was packed and even though it was after their opening hours, people kept coming in to enjoy the food. Oh, and this place is only open for lunch time. Wish I had a restaurant which is so good it only needs to open 4...
Read moreVerdict: Good restaurant for Vietnamese food in Marseille. Worth a trip. Amazing prices. See menu. Warning: Only cash, No credit card.
This is a family run excellent Vietnamese restaurant by the old Port area of Marseille. During lunch time it was very crowded with the outdoor seating completely full.
The menu is simple with noodles and choices of pork, beef, chicken or vegetarian. I try to avoid restaurants that have huge menus and offer you everything under the planet, most of it not good. This restaurant restaurant offers a simple menu but does it well.
I am not a big noodle fan, but they did a good job with the dish. It tasted fresh and delicious. I also had Shrimp spring rolls that were not bad. I have had better.
Overall, a very good experience, good food, and highly...
