Typical simpel French bistro which has obvious Corsican roots. A real relief in this neighbourhood full of snackbars. We warmly recommand. There's a menu of the day. We had the choice between meat or fish or a big salad. The fish was great, with gratin dauphinois and a salad as garniture. The veal was tender and came with nice thick fries and also a fresh garniture salad.
We could choose for Corsican sausage as first dish (and also by it at the counter to take away) but they also served calamares as first dish the day we were there. The dessert choice is broad, amongst others a delicious Corsican flan, chestnut puree, chocolate moelleux. Of course they also serve Corsican digestive.
Go there and let yourself be surprised by a great dinner or lunch made by Jean-Fran¢ois and his welcoming sister Sylvie or mother.
3cours dinner was 19euro in sept 22. Just the main dish is 15euro. I would even go to only have a dessert as they are...

Armed with Google Translate, we were able to show the chef what we wanted, and he understood the assignment straight away. We ended up with a 3-course meal that was generously proportioned and absolutely delicious! My favourite was the home-made apple tarte tartin - that itself was worth the trip to Marseille!! All of that was 50 euros in total which was amazing given some of the other restaurants we've visited during our trip to France where we ate less and paid more.
If you want to visit a local restaurant in Marseille that serves homely and simple meals at very reasonable prices, make sure you...
Read moreChez Sylvie was not expecting an English visitor with an American accent. But Sylvie's Maman and Jan-Francois were very welcoming after the shock. The food and atmosphere was just what I wanted! A truly French "mom & pop's" with no frills not gimmicks. Thanks to a regular customer who gallantly stepped in to translate, I enjoyed a delicious meal of pork in a delightful mushroom sauce, home-cut fries and an unusual courgette based veg dish. If you speak a little French, I am sure they will serve you even more kindly! 🤗🤗🤗 See you for lunch tomorrow, Alison...
