Amateur hour. We had decided this was a restaurant we wanted to visit while in Marseille. I had read reviews and looked at their social media accounts. Had a reservation for 8 pm but, unfortunately, had travelled outside the City and realized early in the day we wouldn’t be back at that time. Called the restaurant twice in the early afternoon, message saying they opened at 7 pm. Called, literally, five times at 7 pm and still no answer, just a message. I then called them through social media and had an answer. I apologized profusely and asked if it would be possible to come later. The man that answered said 9:30 was the latest and if I didn’t show up by then he wouldn’t serve me. Pretty rude in demeanor. But I was the one making the change so I accepted it. When my daughter and I showed up at 9:20 the “hostess/sommelier” was immediately rude and said we were an hour and half late. I was confused. Her rudeness continued. She seated us in a room off the main room and disappeared. As did any waiter. I wanted to leave but my 13 year old daughter was hungry. We literally had one of the worst meals ever, delayed over and over again. We had to request bread twice. Our main course? Pistou soup which would have been better out of a can (wait, maybe it was) and a salad for my daughter and anchovy toast with a boiled egg for me. Really? Well regarded Marseille establishment? Not possible. We quickly ate and asked for our check. To pay we had to go back to the same rude hostess (I can only use that term loosely) who said she “was glad she could seat us despite our being late.” Dumbfounded I said yet again I had moved my reservation to later and she just acted like I was lying. I had phone records of my calls and my audio call through social media. I told her she was rude. Her reply? In front of my 13 year old daughter? “You’re (curse word) rude.” We left and certainly will never return. And I certainly wouldn’t recommend this restaurant (if I can call it that). Rude staff, mediocre food. Why...
Read moreI had to pay cash. I was overcharged by 10 euros. I didn’t get a bill waitress totted up on a calculator. When I questioned the total she returned 10 euros to me but without apology or explanation and with annoyance. Her colleague apologised. I’m still not sure that I wasn’t ripped off as paid 15 euros for 2 glasses of house white wine. This seems expensive considering what I paid for the food. I never thought to ask about price of wine as usually when ordering the house wine it is good value . My advice would be to check what you are being charged before paying. Seems obvious now but to my detriment I didn’t do that. Just not a nice experience when you feel you were ripped off. The cash only rule, tot up on calculator, no bill, no price on house wine by the glass, and reaction of waitress when questioned lead me to that conclusion . Anyone can make a mistake but it’s how it was handled that doesn’t sit well with me and makes me suspect that I was overcharged for the wine as well as the 10 euros extra that was added to my bill and subsequently returned...
Read moreWe reserved online and they called to confirm, nice. Cozy interior and helpful service. Good wine and excellent alcohol-free lemonade. There were three vegetarian dishes (almost half of the menu) and a veggie cheese dessert. I don’t think there was anything vegan except a green salad (literally only salad leaves for 3€, so don’t count on it!) Dishes were nice and we left happy. Fair prices.
Of note: they seem to prepare only one type of dish at the same time, then bring it out to all the tables, no matter at which stage of their menu the people are. For example, our two warm dishes were served very closely (we hadn’t finished the first when the second arrived), then the green salad at the end. I usually prefer to eat the salad first. So if you prefer a certain order, maybe specify it...
