Le Grand Large — Restaurant in Mont-de-Marsan

I wish I could put ZERO stars!!!!! And wish I saw the reviews BEFORE arriving to this restaurant.

I am absolutely appalled by the service at this restaurant.

As an English speaker, I clearly pointed to the menu to order a waffle with chocolate and cream — even though it wasn’t listed, the staff said it was fine. My 10-year-old daughter also mentioned the flavour and, while pointing to the crepe section, clarified it was for waffles. When the food arrived, we were given crepes — NOT what I ordered.

When I politely explained the mistake, the manager refused to correct it and insisted we had to accept the crepes. While my daughter agreed to take one, I don’t eat crepes and was shocked by the staff’s unwillingness to fix their error.

The manager was dismissive, condescending, and aggressive, claiming that “many people change their minds” — yet both he and the waitress knew they’d misunderstood and still chose not to make it right.

I did not eat the crepe, and my husband, who hates them, was pressured to eat it just to avoid waste.

I’ve lived in France for 12 years, and even knowing how poor service can be, this experience was hands down the worst I’ve encountered. As a tourist — and a paying customer — this level of disregard is inexcusable. This place managed to sink below the already low bar of French customer service. Absolutely...

Nous avons choisi ce lieu avec une amie pour sa terrasse ombragée et sa magnifique vue sur l’océan, idéale pour nous désaltérer pendant que son bébé dormait paisiblement dans sa poussette. Malheureusement, l’accueil que nous avons reçu a gâché cette expérience. Le serveur semblait de très mauvaise humeur : il a jeté la carte sur la table de manière impolie, donnant l’impression que notre présence le dérangeait. Heureusement, la serveuse qui a pris notre commande s’est montrée bien plus agréable et professionnelle.

Cependant, le comportement du serveur a persisté. Lorsqu’il nous a apporté nos boissons, cela s’est fait de manière brusque et désagréable. Face à cette ambiance pesante, nous avons décidé de terminer rapidement et de payer au comptoir pour écourter ce moment inconfortable.

La vue est splendide, et c’est sans doute le principal atout de cet établissement. Pour le reste, il existe d’autres adresses bien plus...

Look at the replies to negative reviews. Rather than change his ways to improve customer relations, he just belittles customers and is clearly racist towards the English.

This man is an absolute joke, he should not be in the hospitality...
