Delicious food, booking recommended. We had a couple of aperitifs, shared padron peppers as entree, then had the chèvre chaud salad and the swordfish steak burger as mains. All came to around €70 - have to say the swordfish burger was one of the most delicious things I’ve ever tasted. Spicy, juicy, perfectly cooked… just amazing. Service was a little slow / inattentive hence not quite getting five stars - we had about an hour’s wait between starter and main and no one came to check during that time whether we’d like another drink for example.. overall highly recommended though. Beautiful atmosphere and vibe at this beach restaurant.

L'Essentiel was a really nice find. The beef was cooked to perfection, and the chips some of the best I've had in France. The only aspect I'd ask the kitchen to change is to heat the plates before serving, as by eating outside (as you do in Sète!), dishes can go cold fairly quickly, but that did not impact anything regarding quality, taste or enjoyment of the meal, it would just be the cherry on top! Will definitely be coming back here, very happy to have discovered it as an alternative option to going into the central canals area for dinner.

No question, L’Essentiel was one of the best meals I’ve had in all of France. The whole menu is amazing and we had a hard time choosing what to get. We had the octopus, tuna steak, clam pasta, and chocolate cake. The food was unbelievably good and perfectly prepared. We also had cocktails which were very good but a little pricey. Lastly, every single person who works here was very kind and seemed to care about their restaurant and product, and we had an amazing time here. We’re definitely coming back here next time we’re close.
