Le Dome — Restaurant in Montpellier

What a great French local Montpellier experience. There was also a jazz trio that made me feel like I was back in NYC. Very smooth and cool. The service was relaxed, as usual in France. I had steak that was juicy and delicious. My wife had their special Lazagna. Although it's not really Italian lazagna, it was really good. Very large portion. Place is very relaxed and filled with local paintings that are also for sale. Kind of pricy for local art...around 1000e for a 24"x24" oil on canvas. We enjoyed ourselves so much, eating , drinking and listening to the best jazz we have heard in France so far. The jazz was in the style of Modern jazz quartet, although it was a trio, didnt miss the trap set. Coltrane, and other standards. Upright bass player sang really well in English. This was not the usual French jazz, like Jango style, which I love too. But, it was nice to hear NYC type - Mingus, with some Monk...

Winter 2023 : Le Dôme is "the" reference in terms of brasserie, atmosphere, products and desserts. A Majorcan oasis since 1897, remains the best brasserie of West Montpellier. The restaurant exterior looks pretty simple, but the food was really excellent! We had the gigot d’agneau (with a refined and tasty couscous, fragrant green sauce and yoghurt sauce).and grilled calamari with rice and vegetables. We finished with cafe gourmand which was perfect. Everything was delicious. Obviously a well liked place by local people as those passing by seemed to know each other. We hope to revisit for another good meal during our stay in...
