Majestic Orchid — Restaurant in Montpellier

1 star too many here. staying in La Grande Motte, we attempted to eat in Majestic Orchid 4 times. We failed to get a table all 4 times. Various excuses for the first 3 nights including no tables left (despite there being plenty of free tables) and also it being too late and when I asked what time last orders were for future reference, I was told 21.30, it was 21:32 when we arrived and final straw on the 4th attempt was that we would have needed to make a reservation for a restaurant that was more than half empty and more frustratingly, that we weren’t informed of this reservation policy on the first 3 nights after dealing with the same waitress on every occasion. After working as a waitress for many years myself, I couldn’t fathom the attitude this waitress had.

Instead, we went to Jardin du Vietnam which I highly recommend. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating, the food was amazing and they were very happy to receive our business.

It seems from the other reviews that this is an ongoing issue with Majestic Orchid. I wish I had checked these first and I wouldn’t have bothered...

Interesting fusion, but definitely NOT authentic Thai! 😅

🍲 Tom Yum Chicken Soup (15 EUR) — Rice not included. The soup base was delicious 😋 — perfectly balanced in sour, spicy, and salty flavors. However, this isn’t real Tom Yum because it had zucchini, pineapple, ginger, and bean sprouts. 🤔

My first visit was not a disappointment, the food was incredible, the best Tom Yam soup I've had in a very long time. The presentation and attention to packing was perfect.
