This would have been my fourth visit to the Brasserie, and for a special occasion of my fiancé's birthday. However, the waiter was very dismissive and rude, and informed us he had given away our reserved table after five minutes. We were abruptly told we "should have phoned". We would have called ahead, but our experience with this restaurant is that it is impossible to get through on the phone within 15 minutes. We were also told if we waited for half an hour, they might give us a different table. This wasn't possible, as my fiancé is a diabetic who depends on insulin, and had taken it in preparation for the meal he expected to have at this establishment. As a result of this, we had to urgently leave and seek out alternative options for food to prevent a medical emergency.
I come from a family with many chefs, and none consider it polite or even a good business decision to give away a reserved table to walk up customers on a Monday evening. It was very disappointing, as my other visits to this restaurant have been enjoyable, with both good food and good service. I believe the waiter who made this decision to give away our table has done a disservice to an otherwise excellent restaurant, and I urge the management to retrain him as a matter of urgency.
My fiancé and his family live locally, so it's a real shame to have such a poor experience due to the decision of one...
Read moreDisappointed Nimes residents! We have visited this restaurant many times over the years, so for my son's birthday on August 5, we reserved a table for 19.30. My son has Type 1 diabetes and we were slightly delayed as he did his medication and we arrived five minutes late. After another 2 mintues the head (?) waiter flounced up and told us we were late and had missed our table, he had given it to other people. NEVER in many years of French dining has a reservation been cancelled after a five minute (+2 min at the restaurant) delay. The waiter was officious and rude and suggested we hang around and maybe another table would be free in 30 minutes. Needless to say, we went to another restaurant nearby with warm and welcoming ataff and delicious food. NEVER AGAIN - the officious waiter is doing the establishment...
Read moreMy wife and I dined here in early June, after a long day of exploring the area. Its opposite the amphitheater, so you have a wonderful experience looking at this when you dine, especially when coming from Australia . Were warmly greeted by the staff. Food and wine were excellent and well priced for the quality serviced to us and the location. My wife had their signature fish dish and I had mussels. Both very tasty and all washed down with quality French wine. Shared a lovely creme brulee for dessert, as we were very full from our main course. Service was excellent and always with a smile and conversation. Our waiter went out of his way to help us Aussies select our food and wine, which was a great choice. If you are ever in Nimes, please dine here. You wont be disappointed....
