GAMEL Restaurant — Restaurant in Nîmes

We walked onto the square with a reservation to another restaurant, but, drawn by the classic setup of the tables and the professional looking server, we instead decided to ask for a table at Gamel. Gamel did not disappoint!

The quality of the ingredients, the flavour of the dishes and the plating were all exceptional. Starting with smokey peppers with cheese on a vivid green sauce, followed by a perfectly cooked and flavoured piece of beef on wild rice, ending with a firm goat cheese paired with nutty biscuit and a sweet jam, each of the dishes were well balanced and delicious.

This was our second time visiting Nîmes and our first time dining at GAMEL Restaurant, which was a 4 minute walk away from the Air BnB we were staying in.

The service from the friendly and helpful staff was exceptional, and the food served was to the highest standard! My wife had two courses and I had three. Everything on the plate served a purpose and complimented the whole dish. You could tell that the chef gave a lot of thought to using seasonal ingredients.

Our waitress was very knowledgeable and took the time to describe each dish and the recommended wine to pair. We both finished with a digestif. The Japanese whiskey was sublime. 👌🏾

We had an amazing romantic dinner at Gamel. We didn’t know what to expect, the restaurant is quite new, but we were bowled over. The setting is idyllic, we are on the square al fresco. The food is honestly one of the best meal I have had recently. I had a meat dish with rice with a wonderfully tasty sauce.
