I chanced upon this cafe today (2/5/16 - 4pm ish) as I was nearby and needed my caffeine fix. I walked in to find a guy behind the counter doing a sudoku or word puzzle of some sort. I said I wanted a cafe latte and he said very uninterestedly so? - seemed annoyed I walked in and interrupted his sudoku when he should be working! I said so can I order one cafe latte and the lady behind him quickly offered to prepare it. My wife asked to use the toilet and without even looking up, the same guy pointed upstairs. We were both completely apalled by his attitude and throughout our whole week in Nice we had never come across a ruder person especially not in a place where you run with customer service! To top it off, the cup of €4 latte was disgusting - the milk was scorchingly hot and not frothy at all. I think the owner of this cafe needs to know what kind of service his staffs are providing. If i could give zero star for this...
Read moreThis is a very small café in the center of the city that serves mostly coffee and small desserts. Don't expect to spend too much time here as both the inside and the terasse are very small, and the chairs are somewhat uncomfortable. The good part about this place is that the owner is very kind, especially considering that both times I was there, half of the customers were foreigners with little knowledge of french. The disappointing part is the coffee. Having tried both an espresso and cappuccino, I would say that the quality is just average for France, and if you have spent any time here, then you know that the average (i.e., beans from Café Richard) is pretty low. This would be fairly easy to fix, perhaps buy offering a few options like beans from Italy or from some of the micro coffee roasters that are starting to pop...
Read moreThis is one of the best coffee shops in Nice, on par with Café du Cycliste at the harbor. Their espresso is perfect. Like Café du Cycliste, Max brews a local roast, Cafés Indien. Espresso comes with a glass of water and a premium chocolate square. The only downside is that the place is so tiny. If you can sit outside, it's perfect. Inside, it feels crammed, except for a single cosy table all the way at the back. - Update 2022: The coffee is still good, but the presentation has suffered. Gone are the chocolate squares. Gone are the little wooden trays. And the dishes aren't as clean as they used to be. Somebody is cutting corners. But perhaps I'm too picky. It's still a...
