I have been to several Indian restaurants throughout Europe but this is a little gem that I came across in Nice.We googled this restaurant and were not quite sure when we reached there whether we had made the right decision. The restaurant is located in a subway and we got a little lost.In the end when we did manage to reach the restaurant. The owner of the restaurant served us and was extremely welcoming. The food that came was freshly cooked and had great flavour. We had ordered chicken korma,Rajma, rotis and rice.We could not fault one dish and the overall quality was excellent.I generally don’t write reviews but small business like this deserve recognition. The food was reasonably priced by European standards and the portions were quite filling. We even went to the restaurant the next day and again were treated to a great meal-this time we ordered chicken tikka masala, aloo jeera, roti, rice and raita. The gentleman running the restaurant is an extremely genuine man and provided great service. We had a brief conversation with him and he informed us that it is a restaurant that he runs with the help of his wife.If you are in Nice and would like to try authentic Indian cuisine this is the place to be.HIGHLY...
Read moreThis is the place; your Indian food-finding quest in Nice ends here. It has PROPER Indian food, without any of the sugar, dried fruit, and watered-down nonsense that other Indian restaurants seem to be serving.
We ordered the chicken tandoori masala (which is better than the butter chicken because they use thigh meat and it's not sweet), and my gosh, it was so good. They properly used thigh meat instead of that stringy breast meat nonsense, and it was properly spicy. We got the samosas, and they were huge (and good)! We ordered kulfi and halwa, and both were really good but not diabetes-inducingly sweet...as they should be.
And that's not even getting to the owner, who is very welcoming and entertaining. He makes you feel at home and keeps you company. And accommodating as well, as we wanted some changes to the dishes as well. Can't speak highly enough of this place. It's not a fancy place with a great ambiance or anything, but still. Forget all the other places, and come here; you...
Read moreWell , I think it is the most under-rated restaurant in Nice . If any one wants to taste what real INDIAN food tastes like , this is the place to go . Definitely the location is a little bit hard to find as it is below the station , but it is worth a visit . May be in terms of Ambiance you will first say "NO WAY " but the taste of the food definitely will compensate for it .
What makes this restaurant special is the way Owner Mr. Jay welcomes and treats you . Polite and always ready to give suggestion . His wife cooks the food in traditional way and hence they don't entertain much crowd in a single point of time . We visited 2 twice to his restaurant and that also one day after other even though it was 15 Kms from our hotel . Also I think it is cheaper compare to other Indian classy restaurant , which are more of a SHOW OFF rather than taste friendly .
For all INDIANs it is definitely a taste of INDIA and for all NON-INDIAN , this is what INDIAN food taste like :) .....
