I recently visited Le Cactus, a French restaurant tucked away in the picturesque medieval village of Èze, and I must say, the experience was a mixed bag. This was my first time in Èze, and I was genuinely impressed by the village itself — a beautifully preserved historical gem perched on a mountaintop, complete with winding stone paths, stunning panoramic views, and a breathtaking exotic garden at the summit. The charm of the place alone is worth the trip.
Unfortunately, the dining experience at Le Cactus did not match the magic of the surroundings. I ordered a steak and specifically asked for it well done, preferring a good sear and no trace of blood. However, the waiter insisted I try it medium instead, promising it would be more flavorful and tender. Against my better judgment, I agreed — and regretted it almost instantly. The steak arrived nearly raw inside, with a strong, unpleasant taste of blood that made it very difficult to enjoy. It felt more like a poorly executed attempt at rare rather than a proper medium doneness.
To add to the frustration, finding the restaurant itself can be quite confusing. It’s hidden within the village maze, and without GPS or local help, you could easily walk past it. While the service was polite and the ambiance undeniably charming, the main purpose of any restaurant — the food — fell short in my experience.
In conclusion, Èze is a must-visit for its historical character and scenic beauty, but I cannot recommend Le Cactus for dining. Perhaps others have had better experiences, but if you're particular about how your food is cooked, you may want to look elsewhere. A beautiful location, sadly let down by...
Read moreThe food and service was fantastic!!! We sat inside, where it was much cooler, and loved the pictures decorating the walls. We received our drinks and delicious food very quickly, despite going at the beginning of their lunch rush.
They do get very busy around 11:30, so if you are in a hurry, perhaps this is not the best restaurant for you to visit. You'll want at least one hour, maybe two.
Do not believe the bad reviews. If you, the customer, are rude to the staff, you will be treated rudely in return. If you are polite and respectful, you will receive wonderful service, just as we did. Try to learn the language, it goes a long way.
To the owners: we plan on coming back at least once before we leave Éze. Thank you so much for all...

We were group of 4 adults and 2 children. Appointed to 2 tables, the one table was very small, and we moved add another table (with approval from one waiter) after a while the waitress mentioned to us because we move to another table they are not going to served us!! Wow!
We have two children starving and this is how you treated us? That is rude! They could have told us, rather than being rude!
This is a very unacceptable attitude for tourism industry. At one point I even thought she behave like that because we are Asians! (I hope I am wrong)
I DON’T RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT AT ALL!!
