Le Rest'O du Château — Restaurant in Nyons

My wife and I were the first two patrons at this restaurant and I felt rushed to select a wine and dinner. ?? We were asked to select a bottle from a table of wines as if we knew the wines beforehand. Same with the menu, which there’s only one, in cursive, on a roving chalkboard. The host obviously knew our French was limited but had no empathy for our diligent effort to translate the menu. Again, only 2 tables were occupied at this point. The tuna ceviche was very nice, my wife’s peppercorn steak was good, but my lamb was awful. I’ve prepared plenty of lamb and this should not have been served. The atmosphere consists of metal tables and chairs, which tonight, was comfortable. If you’re not a local or friend, I would continue searching. My wife and I travel extensively and truly enjoy smaller venues....

Het eten is er lekker. Mergpijpjes als hapje vooraf waren ok, niet bijzonder. Entrecôte als hoofdgerecht was zeer goed! Geen saus bij nodig. Als dessert was het tiramisu met peer. Deze was minder geslaagd en had nog weinig met tiramisu te maken.

De bediening is erg nonchalant wat voor mij storend was na een lange autorit en vermoeidheid. Veel show, weinig finesse. De ober past zich niet aan de klanten aan die hij voor zich heeft. Bij ons was er nood aan rust en eenvoudig lekker eten met rustige correcte bediening.

Glazen worden letterlijk op (en gedeeltelijk over) de rand van de tafel gezet zodat je goed moet opletten en deze beter snel kan aannemen of verzetten om te voorkomen dat ze vallen.

Geen drankenkaart aanwezig, deze zit volgens de ober in ‘zijn hoofd’. Maar als je dan vraagt wat men aanraadt als aperitief blijft het bij bier of wijn. Dit was toch wat te algemeen voor me.

Locatie ok. Geen pittoresk plein, maar wel straatje waar af en toe snel gereden wordt...

De passage pour un EVJF, groupe de 10 filles un dimanche, arrivée tardive, mais un service au top, les plats (ribs, et araignées de porc accompagné de frites maison et salade c’est ce qui c’est mangé à notre table) étaient très bons, les assiettes étaient vide en repartant avec le même avis pour toute on a bien mangé les viandes étaient tendres et goûteuses ça fondaient dans la bouche comme on dit chez nous ! Bon malheureusement les desserts maison faisaient envies mais assiette généreuse pour enchainer après un petit dej tardif ! Un service comme on les aime dans la bonne ambiance et chaleureux ! On va souligner, et on a toutes étaient unamimes « tu » es un très bon commerçant on a passé un super moment la future mariée était au top tu as presque réussi ton objectif 😉 !
