Le Saint Louis — Restaurant in Périgueux

Not a hotel.

It is a restaurant.

Most of the food seemed decent for my dining party but do not under any circumstances order the steak.

By far the worst steak I’ve had on the planet. Total garbage. Would have been easier to eat my shoe.

Their first attempt at providing the ordered medium-rare steak was so well done as to be inedible. They apologized and eventually brought a massive steak (I suspect an appeasement) the was blue rare at best. Raw is more correct. When I checked it on delivery with the manager who brought it, she said see that’s good? No, it’s raw. Well we don’t know what you want then! Medium rare as ordered I said. To which she said that is not possible!!! Apparently you can have raw or burnt and their chef cannot distinguish anything in between to satisfy the vast majority who want medium rare. Complete farce.

They took it away to re-fire again but by then everyone in the party had finished and we were leaving. I suspect, had it been the same quality as the first steak, that it would have taken several hours to chew through.

Don’t bother with the steak.

Fries were good. Lasagna good. Burger ok but rare despite medium order.

Dearest foodies, we were excited for lunch based on reviews but I regret to inform you that our recent visit to Le Saint Louie in Périgueux, France, was nothing short of a disappointment. I'm blown away with the 4 and 5-star reviews. Le Saint Louis is mediocre cuisine at best.

Let's talk about the food, or should I say lack thereof. The dishes that graced our table were a disgrace to the culinary world. Tasteless, overcooked, and completely uninspiring, these so-called creations left our taste buds in a state of despair. Foie Gras was dry, canard was overcooked, and potatoes were bland. The lasagna seemed to be cut from a larger piece and reheated. It included heavy, bland bolognese sauce and extreme bechamel, minimum pasta sheets. The salad seemed old, partially limp and flavourless.

I've traveled extensively to other countries and reviewed many restaurants but this one was hard for me. Seemed my money could have been better spent.

After having been waiting for 40mins, I’ve got my main course, no starter. Then we realized that a small salad, which a friend had taken 20mins ago was my starter, now he got his big salad. The waiter repeated and answered my question:”yes, the small salad is starter “, even without realizing that they delivered wrong plate to wrong person. Then when I finished my main course, after waiting for another 30mins, I asked them that I was still waiting for my dessert. Then we realized that they mixed the orders of mine and another friend’s.
