In a space tuned for perfect acoustics, it’s a shame our voices fell on deaf ears – the sound from the speakers is just about the only warmth we got...
My recent visit to Bambino in Paris was incredibly disappointing. From the moment our group arrived, the service was unwelcoming and needlessly rigid. A few of our friends arrived before the full party, which led to an awkward confrontation from the head waiter – who refused to seat them until they did.
When the rest did join, with a couple extras, we were scolded for not informing them – something I've never seen in a restaurant before, especially when several others tables in the restaurant seemed to navigate the same situation completely fine.
Immediately, the atmosphere was cold and dismissive. Members of the waiting staff created an environment where we felt unwelcome — especially disheartening given that we are serious music enthusiasts who had looked forward to visiting.
Two different staff members reminded us—within minutes of sitting down—that we needed to order food to keep our seats, and one referenced a following reservation time nearly an hour in advance, which felt more like pressure to leave than genuine hospitality.
Upon leaving – after seeing several tables only drinking and not eating around us – we politely raised our concerns about our treatment and the staff became dismissive and visibly irritated, only responding with any level of empathy when two members of our group who spoke French (and had worked in restaurants before) stepped in.
It gave the strong impression that we were treated differently simply because we weren’t native French speakers – something which sits extremely uneasily with me.
We had originally intended to enjoy the evening with cocktails and a few plates. Instead, we left feeling aggravated and unwelcome. This was, hands down, one of the worst experiences I’ve had in Paris and I'm quite honestly surprised that a business can run with this level of ungratefulness for its own customers. Won't be...

We were in line to get into Bambino on Saturday evening 21/12, we were a group of three girls of Indian origin. We waited in line and while we were in line ahead of us they rejected a brown (maybe North African?) man ahead of us and when we approached the front of the line, the hostess a blond woman, informed us that it was 26years and above tonight. We are in our mid to late 30s so we showed her our identification (passports, Indian, British and Canadian passport). She then proceeded to ask us how we looked so young and started to mock our appearance commenting on our skin. She then said she needed to check with her manager if the id would be accepted. She went inside and then came out and told us our id would not do and that we couldn’t go inside. We tried to ask why and then got told by a white bouncer that we had to leave the line and that he couldn’t talk in English. I switched to French and he said the bar was closing. It was 1 am. And then the hostess and bouncer proceeded to let everyone behind us in (a group of blonde girls) and another group of white Brazilian people. Amongst the Brazilian group was another friend of mine, he and his friends were super sweet and tried to ask the hostess and bouncer why we couldn’t go in. The bouncer refused to engage in conversation and told them to be careful if they kept talking. At this point we left, extremely hurt and shocked by the racist treatment we received. As a French resident who frequents this institution I would very much like an explanation of this behavior from management. We have witnesses and will be sending this as a report to the Défenseur des Droits.
And to my fellow people of color, tourists and the 100s of New Yorkers I’ve brought...

We came in and no one took our order for at least 40 mins and that was only for drinks, after waiting another 25 mins only then did they decide to tell us that the kitchen was closing in 10mins. After taking our order, they came back and said we had to replace some of our items because they just turned the fryer off, then they came back and said there was only one dish left of something we had ordered x2, all while the waiter was being super up himself and unapologetic.
Even when they served some of our food they forgot to bring other food we were waiting on. We waited so long for drinks as well and the waitress was so unprofessional, she was obviously overwhelmed but projecting that onto all of us at the table and I felt so uncomfortable just asking where our drinks & food were after waiting for so long.
Food was amazing, the records and vinyl set up there is dope but also get a dj? The waiter was playing records and “working”… no wonder the service was so bad
I would’ve expected after all of that, that they’d at least take some items off the receipt, god forbid they’d actually take accountability and apologise… ALSO They left all the items that they had “sold out” of and I had to correct their mistakes TWICE for leaving the items on the receipt that we didn’t receive.
I had to demand that we wouldn’t be paying for everything and told them straight up that their service was horrible and unacceptable and just creates a bad atmosphere for...
