This store has become a tourist destination, and has overcrowded this store. Few people are seriously shopping, with most folks just browsing and taking pictures.
Be careful shopping here, they price things far above retail prices - for example, they sell a tube of Marvis toothpaste for 19 euro, but you can buy the same tube at any farmacy for 9 euro. You can even buy the same tube in the US for $13. (By the way, if you can walk down the street and buy the same item for half the price, it’s not market price.)
That is all to say, many of the products can be purchased stateside and for less money. I would recommend doing price comparisons before purchasing anything. Also, the merci tote bags are really thin and low quality. They sell for 15 euro for the small and 35 euro for the large, which is so appalling to me! Many other stores gift totes of better quality for free for purchase. I hope the people who make them up and down the supply chain make at least $20/hr with full benefits at that price.
Also the store is too crowded. Does Paris not have any fire codes?
Lastly, their staff is ill trained. We bought a watch that cost of 600 euro and were sent back and forth upstairs and downstairs because they told us we needed to go downstairs to pick it up, and then it wasn’t there. And then we had to wait in the long VAT refund line twice. It took over an hour to buy a watch we had already selected. It was a very frustrating experience despite knowing exactly what we wanted and having spent so much money. We were so upset about our experience that we went to a wine bar afterward to blow...
Read moreLocated on the outskirts of le Marais, the Used Book Café is a perfect blend of cozy and chic. The café is part of the Merci store, a trendy space selling everything from designer handbags to kitchen gadgets, and fast becoming a real brand if the queues stretching round the shop are anything to go by. But if you’re more at home in a library than a designer clothes store, the Used Book Café will be right up your street. The stressed wooden floor, rugs, eclectic mix of furniture and worn fabrics evoke the musty nostalgia favored by modern-day bookstores and libraries, and the book-lined walls add real character. Look closer and it becomes clear that the interior is far from slapdash, with chandeliers, a faux moose head and cutting-edge style offsetting the vintage pieces and frayed fabric. Here’s the great thing about the Used Book Café, though: its mass appeal. On any afternoon you may observe a lone customer working away on a laptop, a couple in hushed conversation, or a group of friends enjoying some sunshine on the outdoor terrace. The absence of music adds a certain gentleness, while the languid air invites you to dip into a book while sampling the menu: a standard but pleasant affair with a small selection of snacks (the likes of cheese and meat platters and boiled eggs and toast) along with a range of non-alcoholic drinks, as well as wine and champagne. With its swift, attentive service and relaxed ambiance, the Used Book Café is the perfect place to while away...
Read moreAwful support without need, all I wanted was honesty. I got to see the grand Pa watch once on their website and it was sold out so I just turned on notifications for when they released it again.
When that happened I purchased it but got my ordered cancelled due to lack of stock (comprehensible) and I stopped seeing it on their website even for future releases.
I found one second hand on eBay twice as expensive which was the only one available and before committing to that I asked Merci through email and IG if they where expecting to bring more, not asking for dates, time or anything just something basic.
After they told me it wouldn’t be back I made the decision to buy it on eBay as a gift for my dad at a more expensive price without even a box or batteries or possibility to return it and after checking once more out of curiosity I went back to the Merci website and saw that they are expecting more of those watches soon.
The one I bought is not working and not due to the lack of a new battery, no reimbursement I’ve spent my money for something I was really excited about that you created and it all happened because they didn’t take 1min to ask if it would be back.
I’m disappointed, I’m not the kind of person that writes reviews on google ever but this was just...
