BarOurcq — Restaurant in Paris

Situated along the canal Ourcq, away from the traffic, noise and overcrowding, Bar Ourcq is a delight of a bar. It is especially worth a visit during the summer, when you can get your drinks in plastic cups and take them outside for a seat by the canal among the large, relaxed crowd. The cheerful turquoise façade fits nicely with its laid-back, al fresco feel. During spring and summer the bar is home to a lively bunch of people. Extra foldable chairs can be provided outside, and you can enjoy your apéritif at a sunny spot along the quays. Don’t be surprised if you smell barbecued meat—the locals here take their summer picnics very seriously. Another great summer quirk is the pétanque sets, which you can borrow at the bar for a leisurely game along the canal. And, while you are at it, order yourself a pastis for the full French experience. The place also has plenty to offer on the inside. Although fairly small, it’s original and exudes a lively, comfortable atmosphere. One wall is decorated with curved mirrors and wallpaper with sea-like waves. There are only a few tables with seats, but head up the steps to the right of the bar and you’ll find yourself in a cozy cushion world, raised on a platform of oversized poufs. It makes a great spot for a solitary winter’s afternoon with a pot of tea (just €3) and a good book. You can even browse through the bar’s own bookshelves. The place looked lively, too bad we didn’t get to enjoy it. Unfortunately, the place is not for tourists, as some waiters were not happy by the fact that our group did not speak french.

First we asked if it was alright to sit inside and a very friendly waiter said that’s alright. But after a while no one approached us , so one of my friend said “excuse me” to the waiter sitting next to us, and asked for menus ,to which waiter pretended not to understand us. It was a bit loud, so we shouted once again about the menus, from which the waiter was offended , saying we didn’t say “please” . Si j'avais pu mettre 0 je l'aurais fait. Contexte : samedi 9, j'appelle pour faire une réservation pour 10 personnes pour le 10 novembre, mon anniversaire, à 19h30, elle est validée. Prise d'un doute sur l'extérieur ou l'intérieur, je rappelle le 10 pour demander si la table est en inte ou exte en précisant "bonjour c'est Maria, j'ai une resa pour 10 ce soir à 19h30", il me répond que les tables sont bien à l'intérieur mais que la resa est à 20h, je lui demande s'il est sur, il me dit oui. En parallèle, j'avais essayé de les joindre sur instagram (preuve à l'appui). Arrive donc l'heure de ma réservation, 20h, je me présente sur place, je demande la resa, on me dit "oui ; pour Morgan, pour 10 c'est ça ? ", je vous passe les détails mais cette question m'a été posée 5 fois de suite, je m'appelle Maria. Le premier serveur, lâche ; me dit d'aller voir son collègue blond aux bouclettes pour gérer ça; de nouveau la même fameuse phrase suivie de "mais vous aviez réservé pour 18h30 ?" Ensuite" regarde mon livre, vous avez réservé pour 19h30, on a donc donné votre table comme vous n'étiez pas venus". Je lui explique que je venais literallement juste de valider ça au téléphone avec lui dans la journée. Il s'est senti très bête et est juste parti sans rien dire, ni désolé, ni essayé de nous trouver une solution, prétextant que "je lui avais mal parlé". Mon ami vient lui demander ce qu'on peut faire "ben partez !". Pour quelqu'un qui bosse dans le service, c'est effrayant d'avoir ce comportement. L'erreur est humaine, on aurait juste apprécié que quelqu'un nous aide sur le moment plutôt que de devoir trouver un dimanche soir à 20h, veille de jour férié une grande table pour 10. Par souci de transparence, je ne vous cacherai pas qu'une petite douceur a été proférée par mon ami au mec à bouclettes au moment où nous sommes partis. Bref, changez le management...
