Pretty disappointing to be honest. I see all the reviews saying that the food is “authentic.” Just because something is authentic doesn’t mean it’s good. The guacamole was confusingly bland. How hard is it to make flavorful guacamole? A little salt and some lime juice is all it takes. This one was completely devoid of either.
As for the tacos, I ordered 3 and only really cared for the birria. Biggest problem with the tacos is that they’re sopping wet and the restaurant only gives single tortillas - any good taqueria would give double tortillas to deal with this problem. By the time I got to the second taco it was completely falling apart, same with the third. The pibil was a mushy mess, and the pastor was largely without flavor as well.
There was some sort of interview being recorded when I went and there was no consideration given to the idea that maybe someone just wants to eat a meal without a camera with glaring lights in their face? Anyway, the server was friendly but a little confused and not particularly attentive. It’s a small place with only a few tables, it’s not that complicated.
I like the concept and there’s a fun atmosphere, but based on the food alone I couldn’t recommend this place. I hope they’ll take this review not as a negative but encouragement to step up their game.
I ordered 3 tacos, guacamole and a beer and the check came to 30 euros - not exactly cheap for “street food.” Any halfway decent taco truck in LA would offer better food for...
Read moreThe tacos were good! I’m not an expert but i liked them. My Mexican friend liked them a bit less but also said they were good. The problem is that since they have a lot of demand the servers rush you to free the table for the next clients rather quickly. The didn’t let us order a second drink per example because we were almost finished eating and the server said there were people waiting to eat. Understandable to a point… but not when you waited 40 minutes to be seated and barely got to spend 45 minutes at the restaurant. The server was nice and clearly embarrassed about it so we didn’t take it personal and just finished quickly. We all decided never to go back because we prefer to take our time and I think there are other restaurants that are just as good and allow you to take the time to actually enjoy the food, drinks and spending time with friends. Honestly give it a try, everyone was really nice but just dont plan your night around it! I’m sure you can find amazing tacos...
Read moreFantastic tacos, great atmosphere, and excellent drinks at reasonable prices. I went with a friend and had a pair of micheladas, guacamole, and a set of four tacos (suadero, birria, pastor, and carnitas). The michelada was cool, spicy, and delicious from start to finish. The guacamole was chunky and fresh, the chips were crispy and had great flavor, and the volume of both was excellent. The same was true of the tacos: I can (and usually do) eat small tacos in one bite; these each took three to finish. Plus, the accompanying hot sauces were delicious, with options at different levels of spice, some light and refreshing while others were rich and smoky. Everything was served in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, despite the fact that I speak neither French nor Spanish. Unfortunately, I was so wrapped up in the eating that I forgot to take any pictures of the food or the excellent decor, but will update if I have the opportunity to go back. Highly...
