I was quite excited about Melt. Queued about 20-25 minutes. Ordered at the bar and then sat at a table by the window next to two guys to allow room for a potentially bigger group to be able to sit in the two tables next to me. Spacing is quite tight and tables are very close to each other. Just while I was waiting for my order one of the waitresses asked me politely to move to another table over the corner in a very tight place to allow room for a bigger group. I complied, unwillingly. As a solo diner this time I understand it might make sense to allow for more space for a bigger group, but not at the expense of my comfort. Eventually moved to another table, in an even tighter corner right next to the fire extinguisher, having to pass by a super tight place behind another group. Staff was polite but nevertheless the way she asked wasn't really asking but more felt like ordering me to move. In any case wasn't bothered too much as the isolated corner was tight with the fire extinguisher which restricted my movement while eating but was ok, as better than pretty much sitting next to other people while eating. But when asked like this though, service definitely deserves low stars despite the overall friendliness of the staff.
When it comes to food, I haven't eaten brisket a lot in my life, so I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like this but it was quite lukewarm. Meat itself was ok but maybe brisket is not for me, wasn't a big fan of it. Maybe would have been nicer if it was warmer, but then maybe it is supposed to be this way. Ordered a sharing smash chili as well which was ok. Blanche beer was good. Overall for €41 it hasn't really lived up to the hype for me. We order the brisket bun, the beef cheek and a slice of smoked bacon, the brisket was good, definitely good smoked flavor, but a bit dry (I know brisket get dry while smoking it, but I have tried many and this one was a bit more dried that usual) that’s what I mean with great, but the sauce was ñee and having only pickles and a bit of onion in there wasn’t helping. On the other sandwich the meet felt also great smoked flavor but this time juicier, unfortunately they fail in the coleslaw, there was no description on the menu to actually know if what they tried was coleslaw, but from the pictures it definitely seems like coleslaw and at the end it was just raw cabbage (really dry) so it didn’t helped as well. The bacon was actually really good, tender, soft and flavorful and the mustard was nailed, the sides were nice, nothing crazy. It’s a shame that they fail in the simple stuff when the actual hard part, which is having a tender, soft, juicy and flavorful smoked meat is done very well. Read moreThis place looks and smells amazing and that’s exactly why I came in, here’s my honest review after working in the business for long, -Long and slow line, also the caisse it’s design as an old bar so there’s bottles on the top that block the view of the menu that’s not very well put in advanced. -I ordered to go and the packaging is great, it was also pretty quick to be ready. -My first bite was the coleslaw and I was incredibly surprised by how sour it was, I couldn’t eat it, it was really bad. -Then the smashed potatoes, they’re ok as a side, maybe a little more cheese would make it less dry. -The brisket is very tender and you can see that’s slowed cooked. Good taste -The ribs were the best of all, a good amount and very good quality of meat, well seasoned and good bbq sauce on the side. -The sauce maybe needs oil or something different than water to make the mix homogeneous.
Overall the meat it’s good but the sides not so good, or at least the ones I had.
