There are 5 definite things to commend for this little brasserie... The welcome that we received was excellent. Genuinely friendly and welcoming. It was packed when we arrived and we were offered a place at a mange-debut table, but almost instantly the manager returned with an estimate for a cosy table in the back. The price for quality. This is an ecomical place, but the quality of the food was excellent for the price. It was crammed with locals. From a larger table of students to 3 generations of a family, couples and very satisfied looking individuals, the level of local satisfaction appears to be very high. The atmosphere was great. It was a Saturday, so the buzz may have been more than other evenings, but there was a liveliness to the ambience that was warm and inviting. For such a small, cozy place, there was a definite buzz that was not encroaching or noisy. The service was relaxed, professional and efficient. The lady that appeared to be serving almost all the tables when we were there was calm, efficient, friendly, relaxed and professional. I'm not really sure what can be said: It's not haute cuisine; it's not pretentious... it's economical; warm and inviting; for local eating (and whoever else finds it) in this corner of the 15th; it has tasty, satisfying food; and the service is great... On these terms, Les Artisans is...
Read moreFound out about this place through The Fork - and it was a great find!
Unlike what other reviewers mentioned, I found the service to be extremely efficient and attentive. Carafes were refilled promptly, dishes cleared quickly, and all requests were met - can’t complain at all, especially given the fact that the restaurant was full, on a weekday evening, and there was only one waitress and one manager. Credit must be given where it is due and they did a fantastic job managing the crowd.
I got the duck confit, which was served on a bed of roasted potatoes. The potatoes were mostly done well, with the occasional piece that was still a slightly undercooked. The duck was well cooked in that it did not have a gamey flavour, seasoning was light, and the meat was tender and completely slid off the bone. But it was also overcooked in certain places that made the meat a little dry. The dish overall was lacking a sauce or gravy - with the potatoes and meat being dry, the overall dish made me rather thirsty.
Dessert was decent - sorbets (I particularly enjoyed the pear sorbet), nothing much to comment on.
Overall, I’d definitely visit this place again, I do recommend getting a reservation as the place can fill up quickly...
Read moreThis was a huge disappointment since I went to this restaurant based on the good reviews I had read in Google. I went with a friend and there was no wait to get a table. The waiter who welcomed us was very friendly and led is to a table right away. The atmosphere was nice, I loved the lay out and the furniture. The service was fast and the atmosphere was nice which is why I gave a 2 star review. Here is where everything went south: my friend order a French onion soup which was cold. I ordered duck breast (well done) and as soon as I sliced it the dish got full of juice (blood). I know we all have our ways to eat our meat but I just eat meat well done and I specifically requested it like that. I did not send it back or say anything about it since I've hear many stories about food being spit on, etc etc.. while we were still there a mouse just ran across the restaurant and that was just the tip of the iceberg. I just couldn't eat anymore. We paid and left. I know this is just my experience but it was a...
