Panda Belleville — Restaurant in Paris

Located across the street of The Vietnamese food hot spot in Belleville, the restaurant Tin Tin is one step behind when it comes to the proposed cuisine. The setting is simple, and the spot gets crowded very fast during lunch time. The service staff is reactive (sometimes a bit too much -no need to hear twice that one needs to sit -it would be nice to get a bit of time to check the menu), not very smily or friendly but professional. Among all the dishes, the tastiest one was the Xiao Long Pao (Filled dumplings): juicy and packed with flavors (very meaty). The phô was a bit too sweet (besides for the little fly found in the soup): the broth was too "light" -one couldn't taste the distinctive taste of cinnamon and star anise. The herbs were missing to give this extra kick to the soup. The saté version (peanuty and spicy) was a bit too oily and not very spicy. Another classic of Vietnamese food, the Bo Bun was bland and the ratio vermicelli to meat was way too high. Overall this restaurant didn't match one's expectations if looking for Vietnamese food. The ladies working there might seem a little surly but they brought us everything we asked for and it was all top notch.

I've never eaten a banh mi that didn't shred the roof of my mouth but the baguettes were crispy and tender. My chicken banh mi was made with chicken thigh and the meat was tender and delicious.

Had the chicken banh mi for 4€. Only comes in the large size, so it's quite a big baguette. The flavours were decent, could be more generous with the fillings.
