Restaurant Il Forno Di Napoli Montparnasse Paris — Restaurant in Paris

This was the only truly negative experience I had while in Paris. My boyfriend and I learned/knew some French before going on this trip, and made a point to speak as much as we could to show that we respect and appreciate the French culture and language. This is the first and only place we visited that truly made us feel like they hated us simply for being from another country.

We asked for a table for two in French and were seated. Once seated we tried our best to order our food but, as we don't speak the language fluently, we butchered it a little. The waitress threw her hands in the air, waved us away and walked off from our table as we were in mid-order (not speaking the best French obviously but trying). Then an older man came by to take our order and we asked for a pizza and two Peroni's. He got very upset and told us we were not allowed to share a dish and that we had to order two entrees. I tried to explain that we were not very hungry and only wanted something small. Their pizzas were massive and cost around 18 euros for one (at least the one we wanted was that much). We again, tried to politely explain that we wanted to share. The man got upset and stormed away from our table yelling "No". They then wanted nothing to do with us after that.

We ultimately decided our money and time could be spent somewhere else rather than be treated poorly. At this point we hadn't ordered anything, didn't even have waters and decided to leave. They were very upset that we were leaving and even after being treated the way we did, we still managed to say thank you, I'm sorry and goodbye.

We couldn't justify spending 36 euros on pizza when we knew we wouldn't be able to finish it all and had no fridge in our hotel for leftovers, it would have gone to waste. I see this place has pretty good reviews so it could just be that we had a rougher staff that night and that maybe most people don't have these issues. However, we had AMAZING experiences in other restaurants in Paris that thankfully redeemed this...

BEST PIZZA EVER! I passed by this place cause I was visiting a friend and saw the "Napoli" soccer scarfs on the ceiling, so I though "oooooh this is gonna be good". My mom is from Naples and I know how a real Pizza should taste. This Pizza is not just the best one in Paris, but probably the best one I've ever had!!! They import all ingredients from Naples and you can seriousely taste it and even smell it when you walk inside.

Then I saw "pastiera napoletana" on the menu. That's the neapolitan cake that my mom makes on easter and xmas. I love it. Once I saw it one on the menu I was sold for good. It was made by Antonietta, the owner's mom. Tasted like home! Its very rare you can order this cake in a restaurant. Especially abroad. It was actually better then my mother's (dont tell her haha). Absolutely amazing. And to finish they offered us their homemade Limoncello, also made by Antonietta (also better then my mom's lol/naaa just kidding/btw my mom is an amazing cook). She makes it with lemons from Sorrento. It's like drinking perfume. If you feel like having a Pizza, go here. But do reserve and keep in mind that its always packed because its so popular....

My sister and I came for lunch yesterday. She wasn’t hungry - so it was just I who was ordering pizza and a drink. An elderly Italian man, who I assume was the owner/manager, was incredibly rude. My sister attempted to order in French but the man didn’t seem to understand. When he realized we were getting 1 pizza he became noticeably more upset and patronized us in Italian and then mocked us to the neighboring table in French. He then said slowly and loudly “1 pizza!” in English and yanked the menus from our hands. We were so put off we quickly got up to leave. We he saw this, he stood almost blocking the door. Not only was he rude, he seemed threatening and angry. I advise against Americans coming to this establishment unless you’re fluent in French or Italian and order more...
