SHIFU — Restaurant in Paris

Really too bad. The xiao long bao had no soup in them after confirming with the waitress if they did before ordering. We only ordered after she said yes.

The xiao long bao arrived all broken on the bottom already (therefore no soup) and the meat was super dry. What a disappointment.

We showed the waitress right away. In her eyes we could tell she knew exactly what we were talking about. We then asked if we cna exchange it for another one ( not even a refund) and she said it is not possible.... Why not? If you see the problem and it's very obvious, why is that not entertained at all?

Needless to say, we left still hungry and unsatisfied with a sour taste for this restaurant... Who other than bad bustomer service and horrible xiao long bao, had very good potential.

We're not from Paris and traveled far looking for an authentic xiao long bao restaurant. Very disappointed in the way the situation was handled and unfortunately will never...

On Tripadvisor, the restaurant has a rating of 5/5 based on several reviews⁴. Here on Google it is also rated 4.3/5. The atmosphere is cozy and the prices are reasonable. However, in addition to the delicious handmade baos, you also have to praise the friendly and family-like team, which makes the restaurant a great choice for authentic Chinese cuisine. An (almost) must for Paris visitors who love Asian cuisine, I would say.

The food wasn't terrible. Just not very exciting. Quite bland and hard to tell the different dumplings apart. Standard Chinese takeaway, really. The server seemed quite grumpy and not very responsive, which was a shame. I had to ask twice for water and then got up to get our own glasses. Nice that it was open on a Monday night but overall a bit disappointed. Cool that they make the dumplings in the window, but to be honest that was just exciting to see the week before, and disappointing actually eating there. I'm not sure how they have so many 5 star reviews. Fortunately not crazy expensive. No music...
