Le 17 — Restaurant in Perpignan

Rarely am I so pleasantly surprised by a restaurant. The visit to Le 17 was an uplifting experience which envigoured my love of good food. The chef is at the peak of his abilities and dominates every aspect of haut cuisine. I could talk at length about every dish which were all marvelous and full of discovery. The combinations of flavours, textures and colours were superlative. The waiters were extremely knowledgeable and friendly coupled with their excellent service. I cannot recommend this place enough, wonderful. However there is one negative. We and our 9 year old son were informed that children should eat the same as adults and there is no children's menu and certainly no frites. My son does not agree. Exceptional experience! We had dinner at Le 17 last night and it was so wonderful that it even surpassed our expectations (not our first time there). While at lunch time they usually offer fixed menu (always great, but we wanted to give our guests a la carte choice), dinner is a real showcase of "la creme de la creme" of French cuisine, The combination of delicious and inventive dishes, best regional wines, attentive and professional service and a magic courtyard framed by the walls of Perpignan cathedral is worthy of a Michelin star. Went with my husband and had a wonderful dinner. I'm vegetarian and they were completely accommodating for us, I had an off menu dish which was perfection - I just told them what I do and don't like. My husbands fish was fresh and his starter was sublime. Everything is fresh, light and surprisingly seasoned (flavours you don't expect together but are so good!).
