L'Atmosphère — Restaurant in Reims

This was a fantastic find for lunch in the Reims area. I was visiting on holiday and L'Atmosphère came up as recommended on Google maps. It didn't disappoint. The food was excellent, so much better prepared than any other food we've had all week. It's a relatively small restaurant and the menu is equally small, but that allows them to focus on quality of the dishes. I've attached the menu from the end of August '25, but it changes seasonally depending on sourcing of produce. Between us we had Chateaubriand, Duck, burger with truffle and an Octopus Risotto - followed by Affogato, Tiramisu de Reims, Peach Melba and an ice cream - Every dish was excellent, full of flavour, using fresh ingredients and well thought out. While I appreciate the restaurant's commitment to slow and freshly prepared food, a 2.5-hour wait for our main dish was a bit excessive. The food itself was delicious, and our server was friendly. However, the payment process was problematic. Despite pointing out discrepancies when splitting the bill, the staff insisted the issue was with our accounts. Ultimately, we left due to exhaustion and later realized (with all charges at hand) we had been overcharged for an extra half-plate due to the incorrect division. Expérience désastreuse vécue au restaurant « L’atmosphère » à Reims, pour laquelle j'avais réservé via le site « The Fork », en me basant sur une note de 9.5 sur 10.

Dès notre arrivée, une faute de grammaire sur le menu aurait dû être un premier signal d’alarme. Le service, quant à lui, a été tout simplement inacceptable. Un seul serveur pour une trentaine de clients, qui ne savait même pas où nous orienter pour poser nos manteaux, ni comment préparer les cocktails que nous avons commandés. De plus, il nous a déconseillé d'acheter un vin en raison de son prix, ce qui est pour le moins surprenant.

Nous avons attendu près d'une heure pour recevoir nos entrées, et plus d'une heure trente pour les plats principaux. Les potages sont arrivés froids, tout comme la plupart des plats. Pour ma part, j'ai commandé une pièce du boucher, mais j'ai été servi avec un steak plat, sec et froid, accompagné de frites dont la plupart étaient calcinées. Les assiettes étaient tachées, et nous avons même retrouvé un cheveu dans notre service.

L'ensemble des plats était mal présenté et largement en dessous des attentes. Je n'ai jamais connu une expérience culinaire aussi décevante. Pour 7 convives, j'ai dépensé plus de 330 EUR pour cette soirée d’anniversaire, qui a été gâchée par un service et une qualité de nourriture déplorables.

Je tiens également à souligner la responsabilité de « The Fork » dans cette situation, car la note attribuée à ce restaurant 9.5/10 ne reflète en rien la réalité de ce que...
