We ate here twice during our visit to Rennes, and these were the best galettes and crepes we had in two weeks in Brittany. Great ingredients and really well made. We loved that we could compose our own galettes, and the desert crepes were awesome. Well worth the price. Loved the terrace, because we had what in Brittany passes for lovely weather, and you have to grab it when it's there, but the inside was beautiful. Gorgeous bathroom. Nerd fact - and I'm writing this mostly hoping the owner sees it - we pointed out to him the name puzzled us because in English, Saracen (and Sarrasin) in French, was sort of an all-purpose medieval term/slur referring to Muslims. Read moreTucked behind the central Place de la République, Sarrasin, meaning buckwheat in French, is a fancy yet cozy restaurant that specializes in Breton galettes and sweet crepes. I made a reservation via Google Maps and was greeted with excellent service and delectable cuisine.
I savored a mouthwatering galette filled with organic smoked salmon and creamy potato puree, which was a delightful combination of flavors. To conclude the meal, I indulged in a superb crepe adorned with juicy strawberries and a tantalizing namelaka, crafted from cream, milk, white chocolate, and gelatin.
Not only did the food impress, but the price was also very reasonable, making this dinner a fantastic way to conclude my visit to the charming city of Rennes. Sarrasin offers a warm and inviting ambiance, coupled with friendly service, making it a must-visit destination for galette lovers. I wholeheartedly recommend Sarrasin for a delightful...
Read moreCreative, inventive, with some very bold proposals (I ll come back to try as I did not dare on my first visit). Friendly and attentive staff, and most important, fresh and top quality ingredients for well executed dishes. The setup is chic and elegant, while keeping a friendly and relaxed touch, not going to the pretentious side.
It was a business dinner (roughly 16 people, 2 dishes each) and everyone was delighted. That’s 32 dishes, probably 20 different recipes, and no complain whatsoever!
Prices are high “for a crepe”, but that s like saying an Aston Martin is pricey...
