We found this place on a Saturday 10 Aug 2019. Chatenois is only a few villages away from us and we visit often when they have some events like flea markets or their medieval themed easter egg hunts, etc. We don't usually wander around for a cup of coffee but this day we so happy they were there. We ended up getting brunch. We, a couple, and our small 3rd child. We had a quiche Lorraine, a croissant, pate pie? and coffees. The lady was nice and warm we left with a smile. BUT. The following day, so happened, the kids' grandparents came by to drop off our 2 other kids. We went out for a nature walk but it started to rain. So we changed our plans to get some coffee and dessert instead before the grandparents were to do the 2hr drive back to their home. We were so happy to introduce them to this place we just found the day before. We then drove 10-15 minutes out of our way to this place. We found a table inside. Perfect. It is now around 3h30-4. Then we ordered the coffees, hot chocolates, pies and cakes. Slowly I noticed the lady hostess owner? was more and more evidenced that she didn't appreciate us. For what reasons, I have no idea. I think she didn't like that we brought children? She snapped the sugar on our table away and made a snippy remark of how "it's enough sugar for you.". W.t.f.? We mostly remained neutral as we would never make a scene. It is a small little cute place decorated to the local Alsatian flair. I was so glad that this place existed as it can be a difficult to find anything open on Sundays. Conclusion. We would never go back there again. Too many flies annoying us anyway. It's not even some open countryside or anything. We will find something else or I know of sweeter places...
