Gyp Sea Beach Club — Restaurant in Saint Barthélemy

Terrible experience! I do not know where to start. We paid for day beds two to be exact and had terrible time. The service was slow and the drinks all tasted watered down. I ordered the half rotisserie chicken and it was a disaster. The meat was not cooked at all and was bloody red in the center of all the pieces. Once I noticed I informed the server and the manager came out told me that she is not removing the meal despite me not eating it and didn’t even offer to try cook it. Instead she said she threw the 2 pieces which was half of what I order and cut through the other pieces herself and said it was done. I can tell you 100% it was all under cooked. She said the chicken is like that because of where they get them. Like what? She offered to take $5 off of the meal despite it not being done. Mind you, I ordered the food and had them box it up and they only boxed the chicken and tossed the rest which was bread and mashed sweet potato. When I brought it to her attention as well she said I didn’t ask for everything specifically to be boxed? Ma’m I asked for a to go box and was told they will do it for me and leave it in the back. Yet I have to pay my full price for my meal that they did not box entirely and for the chicken to still be raw! Just ridiculous! But wanted me to pay for it and take it despite her cutting up the remaining meat that she claims was finished. You know if they offered to fix it immediately I would of took it but no. I had to keep asking the server what can we do and he said nothing it has to stay on the bill. They brought me back cut up chicken and “new” pieces that were red. They were not empathetic at all and only cared about getting paid instead of fixing the issue. Told her no thank you I don’t trust it and she got upset and threw it out all dramatic and was sure for me to see. Just unprofessional lol I would not recommend at all. We wanted to love this beautiful restaurant on Nikki Beach, but the food and the service was dismal. The grilled shrimp was so over cooked that it was uneatable mush, and the grilled Mahi Mahi (whole fish) was poorly cooked, and the presentation was a hot mess. However, the reason I’m leaving a review today is due to poor service, not the food. One of our wine glasses was broke. We called this to the team’s attention and I was promptly given a new glass. The waiter then emptied the remaining third of our bottle into my new glass, and then proceeded to dump the wine from the broken glass into the new glass. I attempted to stop this process as the fear was that there were glass shards in the wine, making it unsafe to consume. The waiter was so incensed with the ask that he immediately dumped both glasses on the ground and stormed off. Wasting the remaining portion of our wine. I explained what had transpired with the more junior server to our head waiter and I was given a small glass of some new type of wine to “enjoy”.. leaving the rest of my party empty handed. As such, we concluded our $700 party of four lunch. As our table was never cleared between appetizers, initial drinks, and the wine debacle we left only a 10% gratuity.. to the head waiter’s dismay and annoyance. Visited Gyp Sea Beach Club for the day from St Maarten. Atmosphere was beautiful however random dogs were running around our literal feet around our food and the food wasn't the best! I ordered zucchini pasta had one bite and it was nasty nasty! I immediately sent it back, they prepared half chicken and pasta(had to doctor the pasta up majorly). Then when the bill came they refused to take off the $80 zucchini pasta that they took back because I didn't like it at all. The server got the manager and the manager said "I am not giving you $80 back." He said back because my friend had already paid the bill not knowing that pasta was still on there. He had no hospitality and no good customer service AT ALL! So I will NEVER be a customer their again and nor would I suggest it! Go next door to Nikki...
