Sand Bar — Restaurant in Saint Barthélemy

The good: The food and drinks were excellent, and the lively atmosphere made for a fun experience. The restaurant is beautiful, with a stunning view of the ocean.

The bad: Unfortunately, the service didn’t live up to expectations. The place seemed understaffed, and while our waiter was friendly, he was constantly rushing between tables and didn’t check in often enough to make the experience feel smooth. We ordered turbot and Dover sole, but he dropped off the food so quickly and left without giving us any sauces included with the meals. At one point, I had to ask for someone to clean the puddle of condensation from my drink off the table, and it took over 30 minutes before anyone asked if I wanted another drink. We came for lunch with a large group on a Saturday afternoon and had a nice leisurely meal. Upon being seated we ordered several appetizers for the table to share including the truffle pizza, crispy salmon sushi, Philly steak special and the shrimp. Apps were good but the standouts were the crispy salmon sushi and the Philly steak.

For my main I ordered the kale and broccoli salad as well as the hamachi ceviche and both of them were pretty delicious. My friends were underwhelmed by the cheeseburger, club sandwich and classic Caesar salad but others enjoyed the lobster salad and the chicken. Their espresso martini also had a super cute presentation .

Excellent ambiance and vibe

Prices are higher than at most other restaurants on the island.

My party was presented the wrong bill on two separate occasions during the same visit. Both times, the server brought over the credit card machine pushing for payment and quickly presenting the bill—each containing items we hadn’t ordered.
