GANESH — Restaurant in Saint-Germain-en-Laye

I could be in a minority here, but we found the food at Ganesh terrible and the dishes were as misleading as they can get. The palak panneer (Indian panneer cheese and spinach) had no traces of panneer in it. Instead, it seemed to have some other cheese melted into it. The baingan bharta (eggplant) had no eggplant whatsoever and was so sweet we literally skipped dessert. This dish is supposed to have a distinct smoked taste, which it totally lacked. Not to mention, it's not supposed to have any sugar added. The lassi (yogurt drink) was extremely watered down and could pass off for milk. Strangely, even the saunf served with the bill had a soapy smell and taste to it. The service was good and our waiter was nice, but sorry to say that the food was atrocious. This might be a good restaurant for those who don't know Indian food, but terrible for those who can discern the difference between good authentic flavorful Indian food and that which is significantly altered for the western pallet. Being an Indian I love Indian cuisine and I love all the food which we order from home yesterday for dinner, we live in Maisons laffitte, My husband is french man and I want him to taste Indian food and he like a lots but every time when we order dal makhani it's not black lentils they do, which is actually cooked with black lentils, Tomatoes and others spices, i love all others food but I am not happy with dal makhani it's not dal makhani, they gave us Chana dal with lots of cream .. But still taste was good due to creamy texture.. But I really want to taste dal makhani... Overall they serve hot food and tasty...

Popped in on the off-chance following a day in Paris, we were staying at the nearby camp site. Arrived at 10pn to a warm welcome. The restaurant has a very authentic feel just like English curry houses. The food was very good and service was excellent. I had Chicken Vindaloo whilst my wife had Lamb and Mushrooms.
