L'Aviron — Restaurant in Saint-Malo

Outstanding gourmet meal. Excellent service. Exceptional value.

When you first sit down, they provide you a small complementary tasting of their seafood. When you finish your meal, they provide you a complementary shot of vinilla-flavored rum. Both were very good, plus everything in between was good as well.

The food was served hot and with good presentation. The food was fresh, had good textures and colors, and very tasty.

The waitress/owner provided outstanding service, and was a great host. She was very bubbly, gracious, and took the time to make everyone feel welcomed.

The restaurant was clean and cozy. The restroom was located outside, in an alley, 2 doors down.

Overall, a great meal with a lot of nice touches by the owner. One of the best dinning experience and value (in term of quality vs price), we'd found during our food pilgrimage throughout...

We are an English group of 4 who have just stayed in Cancale for 2 weeks & during that time visited just about all the local restaurants. However we have visited L'Aviron 4 times this because the food is very good indeed & the prices are very reasonable also good wine, however what makes this restaurant very special are the staff, some speak very good English but the ones that don't make up for it by having great personality (I should say that every one of them speaks better English than I do French which is a sad reflection of our Education) Thank you all for making our meals so enjoyable. Visiting this restaurant ought to be compulsory for all visitors to the area. See you all...

We were there on a Sunday evening, which we recommend, as Cancale is not as crowded as, for example, on a Sunday lunchtime.

We were served by the daughter of the house and her mother - very attentive and very friendly! The reserved table was ideal for 2 of us in a very cosy atmosphere.

We had soupe de poisson, fish and chips of outstanding quality and a Muscadet sur Lie to go with it - the perfect end to a day in Saint Malo on the way back to Ardevon / Mont Saint Michel. The rum and vanilla coffee creation to finish on the house was heavenly!

If we're ever in the neighbourhood again, we'll definitely be back! Thank you very much for this...
