Le Bouche à Oreille — Restaurant in Saint-Malo

Booked a table for two and enjoyed a super meal tonight. We both chose the 29E formula, 3 courses, all delicious. But the reason I write and recommend is the lovely welcome and attentive service. Despite our very poor French (which we are ashamed of and intend to improve) the staff looked after us and helped us, which was not the experience we had at another restaurant up the road (on the other side next to the sea). Absolutely lovely place. Excellent service and very good value for money. The choice of dishes was extensive. I had chicken in a cream and mushroom sauce, possibly the best chicken dish I have ever tasted. The cream sauce was so good I had to restrain myself from licking the plate! My wife was equally impressed with the cassoulet de mer. Good range of desserts too - we settled for the crepe caramel beurre sale, and they too were exceptionally good. Nous avions pour habitude de venir en famille dans ce restaurant, mais notre dernière visite a été une véritable déception.

Pour commencer, le service a été catastrophique. Les serveuses étaient tout simplement EXÉCRABLES, et je n’exagère pas. Elles se sont permis de nous crier dessus pour nous apporter nos plats – oui, vous avez bien lu. Passer commande a été un calvaire : aucune courtoisie, pas un sourire, un manque flagrant de patience, et aucune réponse à nos questions. En prime, il y a eu des erreurs dans la commande. Leur attitude a montré un manque de respect total. Certes, nous étions une table de 10, ce qui peut être difficile à gérer, mais cela ne justifie en rien une telle attitude.

Quant aux plats, nous avions toujours apprécié la qualité et la générosité des portions lors de nos précédentes visites, mais cette fois-ci, nous avons été profondément déçus. La cuisson de la viande était mal maîtrisée, les plats étaient de qualité médiocre (notamment les cassolettes de la mer), et les portions étaient ridiculement petites, avec très peu d'accompagnements : à peine quelques légumes et pommes de terre.
