The food was decent and I had very good oysters. The service on the top floor was not particularly friendly but ok (the server was rushed and a bit dismissive), which we jokingly thought of as a being classic Parisian bistro service. At the end of the meal however, because of a miscommunication on whether dishes were parts of meal deals or à la carte, the waiter became ostensibly displeased to have to correct to bill (for one person in a party of 4), and accused our party of gaming the bill, while also ostensibly moaning about how awful we were to make him do the amendment.
At some point things escalated when I walked to the counter to ask him not to be so discourteous to the person that was paying, at which point this server displayed an attitude I can very easily qualify as the worst I have ever seen in a restaurant: he interrupted me, pointed his finger at me while elaborating on his theory that we were used to gaming restaurant bills, and when we remarked that he was being unprofessional, he boasted not to care about what we thought.
I pushed the finger he was pointing at my face down, at which point he screamed that I should not touch him, prompting the restaurant manager to finally come from downstairs and de-escalated the situation, as the sensible person she was, to her credit.
Maybe this was a bad day for this server, which can happen, but this does not excuse the utter lack of respect displayed that day, both to customers (assuming the worst about them and treating them with utter contempt), and to his establishment, which he did a great disservice to by putting their reputation on the line for a matter so trivial.
Read moreExcellent value for money. Lovely food, well presented and very tasty and table with the view. After changing our minds for which menu we wanted and Canceling the first order, we could have been regarded as the nightmare customers but the waiter remained calm and friendly . We decided to go for the top menu (29.50)) and it was delicious and worth every penny. The foie gras combination with the cinnamon and figue ice cream was gorgeous and the next two courses with the seafood were fantastic. The menu offers any desert from the à la carte and the choice again is very vast. We took the coffee Breton which is a coffee with 5 Breton miniature deserts and that was another nice surprise. Finally our waiter offered us a rose cider just before bringing the deserts and that was a very nice touch. As an overall I would definitely recommend this restaurant, We fancied a change from our usual place and pick this one from reviews on the net and we were not disappointed .we...
Read moreWe were at Cancale for a day, and all the restaurants looked pretty similar and had similar kinds of food. We didn't think too much when we went in, liking the look of the menu from the outset. It was pretty crowded, but it was Sunday afternoon– peak hour– I think it was warranted. The first floor was less crowded. The seafood was good in general, and the portions were just right. The desserts were serviceable, but I'm pretty sure you can find a lot of different kinds of desserts around the area that might top them. The view was amazing. The service was good. The restrooms...
