This place is AWESOME for a beach day! There are some mixed reviews here but I'm not sure what to make of some of them. I can't really pull any stars for this place.
Firstly, the decor is absolutely remarkable. I want the number of whomever designed it. Across the entire top floor restaurant section are casual elements like hammocks and swings expertly incorporated into dining floor seating. Some of the tables were wodden cutaways with elements of nature like leaves and fur etc. displayed under glass (which is easy to sanitize). Add to that the view of the ocean and beach on a clear day and you can't help but be floored by it.
While my jaw was on the ground the staff were really accommodating with the fact that we arrived pretty late for brunch. They obliged and got our orders in immediately. That was a great start. I observed the staff and I appreciated their speed and efficiency. I also noticed that they used Moët in their mimosas (I wondered why the price for mimosas was close to NY or FL prices). Brunch was great. I ordered L'Americaine (The American) which came with eggs, bacon, peanut butter etc. It was nice and hardy, just like an 'murican would like it.
After brunch, our waiter was nice enough to tell the beach staff that we might be hanging out. We linked up with the beach staff and they were ready with seats right away. We had some drinks and ended up chilling on the beach for hours! I wish we had another day to hang out with them and funny enough we chartered a boat for a sunset cruise which stopped at the restaurant to pick up some tapas! I'll have to come back to update with the name of the charter (Don't quote me but I think the name was QC Charters SXM and it was LIT)!
Bottom Line: You should stop by if you're on the French side of the Island. Don't be alarmed by valet service. They gentleman we encountered had me asking questions in my mind but he brought the car back in one piece, with no scuffs. HOWEVER, DO NOT use the affiliated Boat Charter service. In addition, the service of the Cafe falls off as they get closer to closing for the offseason/hurricane season.
Re: Affiliated Boat Charter Service -
I made the mistake of booking a charter with them having not checked to see how legitimate they were or what if any policies they had regarding canceling. In addition their affiliation with Rainbow Café is specious at best.
Without having touched a boat and attempting to cancel the charter within 24 hours of booking it. I was refused a refund. I tried to be diplomatic and ask that the money then be transferred to Rainbow Café for a meal but they declined saying it was a different company. Mind you, there are posters everywhere in the Café advertising this boat charter. Some of the boats have Rainbow Café markings on them as well. When I asked where their return policy was listed (e.g. a website or posting) they declined to explain or answer. They couldn't answer because there was no functional website and they had no official rule about returning money. They just wanted to keep the money.
I ended up getting some of my money back but not all of it after CONSIDERABLE effort. What happened was wrong. It should've never happened.
Beware of this boat charter and skip Rainbow Café itself, especially towards the end of the high summer season. They're not concerned about customer service, just money. There are other boats and Cafés on the island try any...

Picture this, a seasoned traveler from the bustling cities of New York and Boston with a persistent fondness for the simple pleasures of life, finding himself in the breathtaking tropical haven of Saint Martin, specifically, at the Rainbow Café. As much as I've traveled far and wide, indulging myself in countless renowned diners to luxurious hotels, experiencing the vibrancy of the Rainbow Café felt like finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
The moment I journeyed into this tropical haven, I felt the immersive energy of this colorful café. The café elicited a vibrant atmosphere, much like my heart when it discovered Vegemite for the first time. Yes, the Rainbow Café was as brilliant and inviting as an Aussie’s personality. From the moment I walked in, a tasteful blend of casual elegance and tropical vibrancy greeted me.
Then came the pièce de résistance - the Rainbowl. Now, this bad boy is no ordinary bowl; it is a paradise of flavors, a medley that stimulated my palate like an opera at the Sydney Opera House. Somehow, this dish made me nostalgic about me home country, yet also thrust me further into the essence of the island life.
The Rainbow Coffee deserves an accolade of its own. Oddly enough, it was as comforting as a familiar hug, yet as exciting as a bungee jump down under. The blend struck a chord with me, rejuvenating my senses with its warm, aromatic embrace.
All in all, the Rainbow Café brings together the allure of Saint Martin, presenting a myriad of flavors wrapped in a comfortable, yet edgy package. So, if you're looking for a culinary adventure that is as vibrant as a rainbow, this is where you should drop your anchor. The Rainbow café earns my resounding five-star review, and I reckon this place is worth a...
