We visited GCBC in 2015 and 2016 and thought Sunset Cafe was lacking. We just back from a 2024 trip and were hoping that Sunset Cafe had improved, but it has not. My first encounter was when I attempted to order 2 drinks at the bar the first day we got there. I intended to carry them up to the pool. Eventually he took my order, then I stood there 15 to 20 minutes waiting for drinks. He made lots and lots of drinks for the waitstaff, but studiously ignored me. Eventually I left, and told my husband I couldn't get waited on. He went down and came back with drinks. So...ignore me (a 60-year old woman) and wait on the man?
Then, every morning we had the displeasure of being waited on by the grumpiest, surliest waitress. Ugh. Omelets were good, but bagels were awful. Pastries were disappointing. Once I ordered "waffles" (as listed on the menu) but they were pancakes. Not sure what that was all about. Why don't they make crepes?
We ate one large lunch there. Service was better, but food was just ok.
As usual, no beverage or food service was available on the beach or the pool. Why not? Wouldn't they make a lot of extra money that way? Doesn't the GCBC website indicate that's available?

Read moreWe dined at 7pm on the night we arrived. Following a warm welcome addressing us remembering our names after a telephone booking several hours earlier, we had a beautiful meal. Amuse Bouche was delicious, followed by the shared platter of humus, cod fritters and octopus, a delicoous Sancerre rouge and a neurons well done, following the sea bass. Our servers were so friendly and attentive and chatted to us about the fish in the bay attracted by the light of the restaurant. The meal ended with two complimentary shots of banana vanilla and orange ginger, both absolutely divine. Our table was situated next to and over looking the small beach. What a soundtrack to have with ones dinner!! Go visit and eat and enjoy the views and the fries you reception. You won't be disappointed. Bravo! Tha k you for making our first evening in St Martin...
Read moreWhat a gorgeous location they have built here. We came just for a drink so I cannot judge the food (yet). Hopefully we soon get to work together so I could also highlight this 😉 Really love how they built and maintain the walk way around the rock formation. With several areas to sit on lounge chairs, beautiful view points and a little table to sit for drinks. We set ourselves on the deck right next to the restaurant where the friendly server assisted us and brought us some refreshing drinks. We sticked with a nice margarita and a bottle of water, the Margarita was taste, just might have been made with a pre-mix which as a former bartender I would always suggest to just use sugar syrup and a fresh lime for that extraordinary fresh taste.
But still the atmosphere, service and location make this a 5...
